Messing Lands 'Something Borrowed'

HOLLYWOOD (Zap2it.com) – "Will & Grace's" Debra Messing has signed on for her first feature leading role in Clare Kilner’s "Something Borrowed" for Gold Circle Films.

Written by first-timer Dana Fox and co-starring Dermot Mulroney, the story centers on Kat Ellis (Messing), who returns to her parents' London home for her sister's wedding. Afraid of confronting her ex-fiancé, who dumped her two years before, she hires a top-drawer male escort (Mulroney) to pose as her new boyfriend.

Nathalie Marciano, Michelle Chydzik and Paul Brooks are producing "Something Borrowed," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Messing last appeared on the big screen in Woody Allen’s "Hollywood Ending." She’ll be seen next in John Hamburg’s "Captured" opposite Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston.

Production on "Something Borrowed" is set to begin next month.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Taking on her first feature lead role, "Will & Grace (news - Y! TV)" star Debra Messing (news) has teamed with Dermot Mulroney (news) to topline the romantic comedy "Something Borrowed," which begins shooting next month.

Messing will play Kat Ellis, a young woman who returns to her parents' London home for her sister's wedding and has to confront her ex-fiance, who dumped her two years before. In a desperate attempt to face the ordeal with dignity, Kat hires a top-drawer male escort (Mulroney) to pose as her new boyfriend, only to realize that pretend relationships could be more nerve racking that facing up to the truth.

Clare Kilner (New Line's upcoming Mandy Moore (news) starrer "How To Deal") will direct the Gold Circle Films project from a script by Dana Fox.

Messing next stars in an untitled Universal Pictures project opposite Ben Stiller (news) and Jennifer Aniston (news). Mulroney, last onscreen in "About Schmidt," recently wrapped shooting the United Artists feature "Undertow."
