Does anyone know what happened with the theme music for the second season? On the original NBC run, the music was peppy, and done with what sounded like real trumpets, plus the little sound effect on "Starring". The high point of the music was when Rudy came on screen.
Then when the second season was in syndication, the theme seemed to be rerecorded a bit more low-key. It seemed to not be real musical instruments anymore, and all in all a pale comparison to the original.
Anyone know what happened, and why this theme ended up getting changed?

I think it's going to be hard to answer your question because not a lot of people have NBC original airings of the second season opening theme. So not a lot of people will be able to compare the 1985 NBC theme to N@N's second theme

Plus is was made during mid 80's and now they are playing it as it was in the 80's, so it will soound worse as it did when it first came out

The one where Bill kind of swivels his head in the beginning of the opening? That music went bang bang bang at the beginning. And the one where Rudy does this kind of running in place dance? The one where Theo does this kind of "do anything" kind of dance? And Vanessa has this kind of secret smile on her face? And the one where Denise bumps him off camera/ screen? (Bill Cosby). The one where Claire wagged her finger playfully at Cliff? And the one where Sondra smiles and does some kind of dance?

It was a gray-black background.
