For those of you that subscribe to Canada's version of TV Land on digital cable, you're in for a real treat! Their new fall lineup has just been announced and some of the changes for next season will include the addition of shows like "The Addams Family", "Car 54, Where Are You?", "My Three Sons"; "Phil Silvers/Bilko", and "Family Ties". The bad news is "The Beachcombers" and "Forest Rangers" are still on. But that's still an excellent bunch of new/old shows to add to what is already an impressive group. For comparison's sake, I'd take this lineup over that of Prime/DejaView any day! Here's the full schedule:

I never heard of Forest Rangers, yet it's on, how many times a day?

Other than that, a pretty good lineup.

Not bad. There's a little too much of that Forest Rangers show but other than that, I'd rather live in Canada than the US.

With the exception of The Odd Couple, I'd rather live in the US. And I do, so I'm happy.

Let's just say . . . I like most if not all the US sitcoms on the network but not the schedule. I suggest they dump the canadian sitcoms and re-do their schedule. It is so screwed up!

This is my suggestion schedule for them:

6:30 AM "I LOVE LUCY"
7:00 AM "THE BRADY BUNCH"
7:30 AM "SANFORD AND SON"

If they had that lineup then I would be glad to live in the US.Now if only TV Land USA could air the Canadian sitcoms....

Man, I sure wish TVL here in the states would show Car 54 Where Are You, My Three Sons, Gomer Pyle USMC, The Odd Couple, The Addams Family, and Phil Silvers. Oh well, I guess were stuck with seeing the same old usual crap they've run in the ground already. I suppose Canadians don't have a problem with black & white TV shows like most people here in the states do.

Hmm....sounds interesting (although why do some slots say, for example, "Laverne & Shirley/Get Smart"? Do the two shows alternate every day or something?

Also, what I really want to know is: there's a rumor down here in the States that on TV Land Canada, American TV shows are aired unedited? Is this really the case? I thought I'd have to wait for DVD releases to ever see shows like Get Smart or Happy Days unedited, the way they were meant to be seen.

You're right, Mike. For the most part, Canadian channels do show classic sitcoms uncut the way they were meant to be seen and for that I am very thankful.

If you want to know more about TV Land Canada and their programming, you can check out their brand new website here:

I just saw it today. It's not as detailed as its US counterpart yet but give it time. I figure I'll be visiting it fairly regularly in the near future.

Canada's CTS gave me their line-up yesterday:

CTS Fall schedule, effective Sept. 1:

1:30pm - Webster
3pm - Kids Say the Darndest Things (Bill Cosby)
3:30pm - Charles In Charge
4pm - Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman
5pm - Touched By An Angel
6pm - Major Dad
6:30pm - Growing Pains
7pm - The Muppet Show (they think this should do really well)
7:30pm Happy Days
all times are eastern time.

All the shows that left: Flying Nun, Moesha, Wonder Years, Hogan Family, Mr. Belvedere, etc. are just resting. The only show that expired is Family Ties, which moves to TV Land Canada this fall. (For the record: CTS told me Family Ties did very bad for them, no matter where they put it.)

To Sal: Your Deja and PRIME posts were deleted because of the boards crashing on the 3rd (everyone's posts from the 3rd got deleted), I guess you can re-post it on this thread. (When you do that, I'll edit the title of the thread)

As requested, here are the fall schedules for Deja View and PRIME:

DejaView:

http://www.channelcanada.com/tvzone/fall2003/DejaView.html

PRIME:

http://www.channelcanada.com/tvzone/fall2003/Prime.html

Strengths: Some good quality shows on DejaView like "Three's Company", "Dick Van Dyke", and "Gilligan's Island" plus more "I Dream Of Jeannie" and "Bewitched" on PRIME.

Weaknesses: Too predictable with very few surprises, like CTS tries to throw in from time to time (not that it's always a good thing: CTS's fall 2003 schedule, posted above, is, in a word, awful!)

Guys,

Do what I do. Contact your local cable company and request that TV Land-Canada be added to your line-up! It is way better than what we have in the states and many shows are shown uncut!!!!!!

Just for the record, today I gave the CTS brass plenty of heck for the crap that they're peddling above. If any reply is forthcoming, I'll let you know the results later this week. Follow this thread for details.
