CBS Gives Reprieve to 'Becker'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Reports of the death of "Becker" were premature.

The future of the five-season sitcom looked bleak when it wasn't part of CBS' fall schedule announcement in May, but it will be back next season after all. The network has ordered 13 episodes for midseason, according to reports in the Hollywood trade papers.

"Becker," which stars Ted Danson as a misanthropic doctor, drew solid ratings for most of its first four seasons. Following perennial Top-10 series "Everybody Loves Raymond" in CBS' Monday-night lineup, the show was often in the Nielsen Top 20.

Ratings dipped significantly last season, however, when the series moved to a less forgiving spot at 8 p.m. ET Sundays. It still performed reasonably well, averaging about 10.3 million viewers a week.

Network executives also liked the creative direction of the show last season, when Nancy Travis joined the cast full-time as a foil/love interest for Danson's character.

That pic is of me and my friend Elizbeth.
She watches Becker too, she loves the show.

Any idea what day and time it is going to be on?

Or is it a question of waiting to see which one of these new crap shows bombs first and for Becker to come in and mop up their unwelcome mess?

Hopefully it will work out as planned. The same exact thing was planned for Ladies Man. It was supposed to come back as a mid-season replacement. However, all of their new shows were somewhat successful that year, so it never came back. Well it did, but in the summer, and that was it. But I think Becker has a much better chance of coming back.

I'm getting the feeling that "The Stones" will be gone after only 4 epsoides, seeing how its a very lame crappy sitcom. And Becker will take its place, which means it will be paired with "King of Queens", I'll be glad that it will be on during the week, but haviing a one-hour comedy block, and then drama, I think CBS should have bought atleast 4 new comedies in, that way they can have two full comedy nights, and compete against ABC. Anyways, I also get the feeling that this will be the last season of "King of Queens", I love the show, its loosing its' 'it' and I'll miss if CBS does decide to cancel it, after next season.
I believe "Becker will more than likely premiere its sixth season on October 22, 2003 at 7:30/8:30 e & p time.
And believe me, CBS wil needl order 11 more epsoides to fill in for the rest of the season.
And I think its going to be a really great season, watching Becker come out of his shell to Chris.<Thats gonna be good!
I can't wait till comes on!
