View Full Version : Nancy and Phillip McKeon
sarah2112 12-24-2000, 06:23 PM I read on the gay gossip board that Nancy and her brother Phillip are considering writing a screenplay based on their experiences growing up gay in Hollywood. It sounds like a great movie idea. Do either of them have experience with writing scripts?
message maker 12-24-2000, 07:11 PM What do you mean by "Growing up gay in hollywood".
ShapeOfMyHeart 12-24-2000, 09:19 PM exactly. are you telling me Nancy is gay? im not against it or anything but i didnt know that..........that's it, if she is gay....
JohnMcMillin 12-24-2000, 09:54 PM I don't know about Phillip, but I don't believe Nancy is gay. I know that a lot of lesbians (my older sister included) loved and found Jo to be a straight character they could relate to in the day (because back in the 80's, there were no Will And Grace, Ellen or the like), but I don't think she was gay herself. I have no idea about Phillip though. Maybe it was about his sexuality (in case he is gay) and Nancy is writing about how she learned to cope with her brother?
I have no idea.
While filming "the Facts of Life" Nancy dated Micheal J. Fox steadily and was planning to marry some hockey star because she lived with him for a while. It was sorta like a 'trail marriage'. I don't know about her brother though...
Just because Jo dressed like that and acted taht way doesn't mean she was to be considered gay. I mean she got married! PLUS, I dress that way, act that way, and play every sport under the sun but I'm not gay.
I think it'd be a great script! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Jo: You know I have been watching you too.You have a lot to be shy about!

Beverly Ann: Let's see. It's tomorrow in Africa so if I want to talk to Edna today then I should have called her yesterday...

Natalie: It's a busy day for me. I have to go down to the newspaper office, get a lung transplant...

Blair: But if I'm not perfect... and that's a *BIG* if, then it wasn't his place to say so.
Jo: You're right. It's my place to say so.

mapmanmsl 02-12-2003, 02:53 AM They probably wrote about growing up with people thinking that Nancy was gay, and no, Phillip was never gay, Didn't grow up gay, and is not gay, but like any sibling who has another sibling who is gay, Phillip had to grow up and cope with the public seeing Nancy as being gay, probably because she played a character that was perceived as being gay. And by the way, Phillip has dated girld during his run on Alice, and he has dated and almost fell in love with a girl named Julie something.

umm, Jo wasn't ever perceived as gay, so what character are you talking about?
MandieR1980 02-13-2003, 04:27 AM I'm so sick of hearing about this. Nancy is not a lesbian I don't even care if she is but there is nothing worse than being accused of something you are not.
Rebel Queen 1980 02-13-2003, 11:04 AM They probably think Nancy is gay because in the 1980's she portrayed a tomboy, and now she's portraying another rambunctious character, but seriously I don't think she's gay,
and those stupid people need to realize that just because
you do something for a living doesn't mean that you act a certain
way in life,Philip maybe used to portraying kind-hearted gentlemen or real macho guys, but that doesn't mean that he's
gay either,When are people ever gonna realize TV movies and
shows aren't real they are just stories be told through production.
Classic FOL Fanatic 02-13-2003, 05:37 PM tomboy and gay are two very seperate things though. I don't understand how someone would mix those up, especially someone who's seen the show. I mean, come on, anyone who's seen the show should know that Jo, and every other character on there, was not gay!
Daggoth Urr 02-13-2003, 07:26 PM If you read the real stories about the McKeon kids, they wrote a book about growing up in gay Hollywood, not growing up gay in Hollywood. Notice the word "in". They were writing about how they both grew up in gay Hollywood. So there you get it. Neither Nancy nor Phillip are or were gay. It just that other people that were in Hollywood that they grew up around were gay. Look at Jim Neibors form the Andy Griffith show and Gomer Pyle USMC shows, he didn't anounce he was gay until 1981. So yes, it was possible that the McKeon's could of lived in the same neighborhood ad Jim Neighbors. And yes, there are and there were gay people in Hollywood that the McKeon clan could of lived near. And yes, both McKeon kids could of lived and grew up near these Gay Celebrities like Jim Neibors and Rock Hudson.

Where can i find this book? What's the name of it?

This was a first season plot line with Blair accusing, though I forget who she accused.

Doh! That's what I meant. I was picturing Cindy, but I said Nancy for some reason. I guess it's been a while since I've seen any first season episodes.
