I heard from a guy at Best Buy that Wings is coming out on DVD and VHS sometime in August!!! Season One only for now though :( He said that the amount of interest in a particular show determines if it gets released on DVD. So keep writing those letters for more seasons.

EEEEEE!!! YAY!

Yeah, I hope there's enough interest so they release the whole series! I'll definately write letters concerning my interest in the whole series coming out on DVD!

thanks for the info!

yay! It seems like they should release seasons 1 and 2 together, though, because season 1 was so short.

I HOPE this is true.

TVAdam mentioned this website before: www.tvshowsondvd.com

and they don't mention anything about a Wings DVD release.

I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it happens.

Yeah, the fact that the first season was so short you'd think they'd put one and two together, but also the fact that it's only a 22 minute show. Other shows on DVD that are 45 minute dramas and have full seasons come out one season at a time. I only hope this is true. I actually was going thru some of my old vids yesterday and found that I'd taped the first episode (pilot) of Wings. It was great to see it after all this time. ;)

I hope that this is true to because I would like to be able to here some of the ending without Nick @ Nite doing their advertising. Plus it would be fun if they added in deleted senses and bloopers.

not to bring anyone down, But i think it is highly unlikely WINGS will be released on DVD at all - let alone in season sets.
Why - Because WINGS was not a popular enough show to be released unfortunately:(

i think its false information.

I don't know if it's true or not. But as for popularity goes, they're releasing "The Best of The Steve Harvey Show" on DVD. Also, "The Best of Arli$$". Even the funny, but I didn't know was that popular "Strangers with Candy: Season One."

I think it could come. I mean they already sell two other shows done by the same people, "Cheers" and "Frasier."

I would tend to agree with TVAdam, that it's not just about the "popularity" of a show as to whether it ever gets released as a DVD or not. There have been several shows such as 'Once and Again', 'Sports Night, even 'Ally McBeal', that have at least one DVD on the market. And I'm not knocking these shows. I think they were all quality shows in their own right, but none of them were huge rating winners.

I noticed even a show from the 80's, Alf, has a DVD. That show may have been popular for a year or two but I don't recall it being a huge hit.

I always felt Wings got put down unfairly as far as ratings go. The show was never a huge top 10 hit, but I know it had one season where it ranked as high as 14th, and I'm sure it had other years where it dipped as low as around 40th. But over the course of the entire 8 year run I'll bet it averaged a rating of something around the mid 20's which isn't too bad in my book for a popularity scale. But the problem is Wings never had a HUGE year where it was something like the 4th highest show in the ratings.

It was interesting because when USA network first got the rights to Wings the popularity of the show zoomed! It was like all of the sudden people were seeing the show who had never given it a chance when it first aired on NBC. I was hoping it would happen again on Nick, but that is hard to create when you air one time at 1:00am EST.

With Cheers and Frasier recently released on DVD my hopes are up a little for a Wings release of some kind. Even though Cheers and Frasier were more popular shows, they were made by the same production company. But I still fear the person at Best Buy may have confused the news with the release of something like a TV documentary that used to run that was called Wings, but was based on aviation and such things.

I remain hopeful.....but I still know it isn't likely to happen.

I'll bet if they release a "Best of Wings" on DVD, it'll be a collection of the Wings episodes with "Cheers" cast members as guest stars. The Story of Joe/ Planes, Trains and Visiting Cranes/The Clint Black episode (I forget the title).

As for the ALF remark, I think ALF was a hit. But I think it was more the merchandise than the actual show itself. I mean they had ALF dolls, toys, puppets, books, shirts among other things. Somewhere, the TV show just got pushed aside to all the merchandise.

Okay, you got me. I'm an ALF fan. :D

LOL....you're probably right about Alf. Even if Wings EVER gets released on DVD, I'm sure it will just be a one time compilation "best of" sort of thing. I don't think you'll ever be able to get the entire series on DVD.

Lost Highway is right go to this site: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/index.cfm and vote for Wings on DVD. The more you vote(only once a day) the higher up that Wings goes on their ranking. Right now it's at 70 out of 5000+ shows, which is pretty good. Friends is at 52 and it got released. There are some shows there that have come out on DVD that lasted one season and didn't even do well in the ratings. It goes by how much demand there is.
It doens't matter about ratings, it's about demand for the show.
If you vote at this site, it shows the co. that owns Wings that there is demand for this show on DVD.

You have to register at this site, It's easy and fast. Don't register more than once, or one name will be deleted. They go by your IP address, so it doesn't do any good to register more than once, or to use different emails.

I checked up on Wings last year and it ranked # 117. So it definatly had a boost since it came to N@N.
