I don't think there's any special "book board," so sorry if this has to be moved.

How many people here are getting it? When and how?

I'm going to a Harry Potter party at Barnes & Nobles. There's a costume contest, other contests, prizes, surprises, movies and other fun stuff. (I'm going as Hermione if I can find a plain black graduation robe. :) )

I just bought the first 4 books. Yeah, done read them before, but I wanted copies of my own. Yeah, I'll prob. buy the 5th book. The only thing kind of blocking me from buying it is if they don't have it around here, which is entirely possible. Anyway, I'll buy it if they have it around here.

In school we HAD to read the first harry potter book- it's kind of amusing, all the magical names, kinda like in Sabrina the Teenage witch, when things we call 'figures of speech' are taken literally by witches. The book was ok, then became tiresome- I'm not that big a fan, so I won't read the book, it's too long (I'll see the film). I've been tempted to look at this new book- mainly because all the plot guesses and red herrings laid out (a character died- she says it's a main character, but it won't be one of 'THE THREE') and because it's being treated like a soap opera. If this was published maybe when I was like 7 or 8 or 9, I'd defininitely have read ALL of those books- cos I read basically everything. Maybe J.K. Rowling should write other books- unrelated to Harry Potter (don't go the way of wizard of oz and do spinoffs) because most authours worry about being typecast. In all honesty, that woman could probably take a crap on a piece of paper, the editor wouldn't even look and just publish it. I hate the Potter hype- I remember the premiers for the second film, some guy reporting was holding a film reel of the movie on tv, and I was like "Drop it"!

Yeah, I found out last night that a main character dies and I was mad. I wish I wouldn't have seen that. I saw on Mugglenet.com that J.K. Rowling cried after she wrote it. I think that's a little overboard, but.. y'know.

All I gotta say is... if it's Snape, Malfoy or Hagrid, Rowling's gonna fry.

Oh man.... I think it's Ron. I don't know why, but I was listening to an interview of her, and she said something about fans 'begging her not to let Ron die'.

If it's Snape, I'll definitely help you fry Rowling. Cedric Diggery was bad enough... I thought he was pretty cool. But Snape?! Come on now. He's the best part!

I can't wait to read it. My brother is buying it for my mom birthday. She better not kill Hagrid, he's my favorite. But if Malfoy dies it wouldn't break my heart. OMG You don't think she would kill off Dumbledore do you:eek:.

We ordered it off Amazon. It comes out on Saturday and we're selling books then.....so me and my sister will probably just read HP all day and watch our dog.

I don't think it's Ron. Something tells me it's Hagrid....ugh I hope I'm wrong.

I think it's Snape. Reread the "Death Eaters" chapter in The Goblet of Fire. Reread where Voldemort is talking about the six missing Death Eaters. 3 are dead, one is loyal, one fled, and one "left him for good," and needs to be killed. Karkaroff fled, Crouch/Moody was loyal... Snape left Voldemort's side for Dumbledore.

I'll be SOOOOO mad if it is Snape. I hope I'm wrong. :(

I won't be buying #5, b/c I haven't read the first four, but I did see the first two movies. They're great, it's just that I can't see reading an 800 page book for fun. School has sort of spoiled me on that LOL. If I had to hazard a guess as to who's dying (Keep in mind I'm behind the rest of you all), I'd say Malfoy. He's really evil, and it seems to me that if Rowling's going to kill someone off, it's going to be a bad guy. But that's just my own opinion.

Oh my Goodness... you have an excellent point. I just read an article on J.K. in the New York Times and she said that it "isn't Harry, Ron, or Hermione".

Anyone think it's Dumbledore? I mean, I dunno, kind of odd how Richard Harris dies right in the middle of her preparing the 5th book.

I really think, in Ireland at least- that they've over-saturated with Harry Potter books. I walked past the most popular book store in the shopping centre and they had at least 2 dozen copies left. Then again, some people wait days later- some mightn't buy for weeks, and those who haven't been born, or can't yet read- will catch on in years. Apparently if you have a first edition harry potter sorcerors stone, you can get £10,000 and it doubles if it's signed by the author. If everyone's looking for a first edition- which 1 idiot will pay that much? Also- the guy who plays harry potter, well him mother dismissed claims his school-life is dwindling cos of acting, and that he has to choose between them.

see as me and my friends were discussing it and it wouldnt make sense if Ginny did bc 1) she almost did and 2) it would be too obvious....

Yep, Collin Creevey. Anyway I got the book at 11:30 last night  So I'm only on the first few chapters. I'm going to definitely finish it tonight though. I'll pull an all-nighter

If you haven't read the book yet, DON'T READ ON!

I was so happy that Professor Lupin came back!! He was always a favorite. I looked on the back of the cover and I'm like "Hey. That's Moody..." and sure enough, Moody's back! I'm only on the part where Ron and Hermione find out they are Prefects (no Harry?) but I find it interesting so far how Dumbledore is like... ignoring Harry. Especially at the hearing.

I had a new thought. Maybe it could be Sirius who dies? I dunno... I'm very skeptical on Hagrid. I don't know why, but for some reason, I just don't think he will... I'm probably wrong though. Watch it be Hagrid. Ugh I'd be pissed.

I dressed up as Snape for my midnight party! :) I won a cool metal bookmark in the trivia contest! I know everything about Snape, so naturally I knew he is 36 years old. I was the only one to raise my hand. I was like, "OOH!!!" My arm nearly came out of it's socket. :D

My friend pointed out that it could also be Sirius. OMG, if it is I'll be SOOOOOOOOO mad.

If it's Snape, Hagrid, Sirius or Malfoy I will throw the book across the room and not even finish reading it.

I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, but I did warn people who hadn't read the book to take caution about reading on. I find it a tad bit unfairmof you to falsely accuse me of "ruining books for people"; it's not like I'm deliberately spurting out the contents of the book to everyone on this board. I'm just trying to take part in a discussion about the book.

I love book 5!! I'm only on like the second chapter or so, but I like it so far! Every time I start reading it, I can't put it down! I skipped ahead to find out who dies, and I know. But, I'm not saying a word. I can't wait to read it some more! :D

I think the 5th one is SO much better... especially in the end, because the end is what explains everything. And I'm keeping it at that :D *zips lips*

 you've finished already?? isn't like 900 pages?

I'm having a lot of fun with it. Joanne Rowling really didn't let her fans down with this book!

 Yeah. If I had read straight through I probably would have finished it sooner, like you. I got it 11:30 Saturday night and finished 2 a.m. Monday morning, but the whole weekend I had places to go so I couldn't read it straight through :( Although I felt like staying home, lol

I got my book at 4:00 PM on Saturday. I didn't start reading it right away I just looked at it. If I had devoted all my time into reading book five I would have finished it within 2 days maybe even one. But since I didn't devote my time to Harry Potter it took only a few hours over the course of 4 days. My aunt called me when I was on page 300 and told me that my other aunt had finished the book within 2 days.

I was kind of frustrated when I was about 300 pages into the book and still didn't really know what was going on and the fact that I still didn't know where ______ was.

I never really thought that it was going to be ______ that died so that was a surprise.

I found the last few chapters quite intense there was so much stuff going on and so much info shoved into so little time it made my head spin and I am still not quite sure what happened as it happened so fast.

I thought the book was pretty good, I can't say it's my favorite out of all of them. That _____ woman was such a B. I liked how nobody liked her.

I think the movie on this book will be awesome and I can't wait to see how they do those last few chapters.

i can't wait to read this one...but i'm in a pickle.... i don't wanna read it online cuz reading books online hurts my eyes, and the book in real life is HUGE and it would be hard to just sit there and hold it for a long time...

I'm only on chapter 18... I wish I could read faster and that my sister and her friends would stop running into my room.

Yeah me too now that I think about it. I mean, Hagrid was awesome and all, but no one compared to this guy... :( Poor *coughcoughcough*. I'm going to STRANGLE *sneeze* for doing this to him.

But I bet you in the 7th book, he'll come back somehow. Let's hope. :(

I read "Snape's Worst Memory" last night.

The POOR GUY. I wanna give him a hug.

No wonder he's such a bastard. I don't blame him at all. :(

(But you have to admit, that's gonna be funny to see in the movie. It was funny just reading it. I thought I was going to die from laughter. Then I felt bad for laughing at him. :( )

I know, I felt so terrible! Awww. :( Poor Snivellus.... :p

I think that was my favorite part of the whole book...I loved seeing J & L... Okay they're dead but they're like two of my favorite characters...

I can't wait for this movie (it'll be awhile but whatever). But the end will be freaky...and I don't want to see *cough* die.

Yeah, and you know, with my luck by the time the fifth movie comes out, it won't even be the same actors anymore. With the rate these movies are being made Dan, Emma, Rupert and Tom will all by 30 by the time movie # 5 rolls around.
