I've been watching Welcome Back Kotter every now and again on TV Land for the past few months. While I usually like the show very much, there was an episode this past weekend that I really think was the worst Kotter of all time. Granted, I haven't seen many of the shows in Season 4, but I doubt it could have gotten much worse than this episode!
I'm talking about Episode #53 (?), "A Novel Idea", where Mr. Woodman writes a book loosely based on his experiences with the Sweathogs. Is it just me or was this the worst Kotter of all time? I really don't mean to insult the show but for me this episode was just hard to watch!
By the way, this was a Season 3 episode and while Gabe Kaplan appeared for his usual 2 uncle jokes, he was not in the regular show at all. Maybe this helps to explain why this episode was just so bad. I guess this was a sign of things to come in Season 4, huh?
So, which episodes would you say were the absolute worst? Do you agree that it was the one I'm talking about? I just have to know if I'm alone here with this episode!!!
Thanks and keep watching,
Michael

The worst episode, for me, was "A Little Fright Music" that's the one where the Sweathogs want to re-write the school song.

The title slips my head right now but this 2 parter recently aired on TV LAND. It is the episodes where the sweathogs are in a talent show.

This has the weirdest dream sequence in which Gabe has become the king-dictator of the school wearing a crown . ..and has been for 50 years. Everyone else has aged but he looks exactly the same and Epstein has been reduced to being his court jester and he's forced all the Sweathogs to be stuck in high school all this time to do his bidding. The dream ends with him defeating the latest coup attempt and being even more omnipotent than before. .. but Gabe wakes up in a cold sweat upset that his taking that position could result in him becoming power-hungry!
