View Full Version : A great idea for N@N's 20th
benjamoon 06-15-2003, 01:55 PM I know it's still 2 years away, but I was thinking recently about what Nick at Nite could do for their 20th anniversary in July 2005. I was thinking they should broadcast a 21 night marathon (3 weeks) and each night they will play a lineup from each year, 1985-2005. They could air one lineup from that year and air their commercials for the time. They can have promos from that year and maybe newer commercials looking back at that year. I would love it.
what do you guys think?
Flash72 06-15-2003, 03:06 PM That is an outstanding idea, but one unfortunately that will probably never come to fruition. I imagine what we will really get for the anniversary is something like this: (God forbid)
Olson Twins Stay up all Nite on Nick to Celebrate Their Anniversary, presenting their favorite episodes from "Full House."
or
Celebrate our anniversary, by relieving the Huxtable's greatest anniversary celebrations, featuring a night of anniversary-themed Cosby Show episodes.
or
Celebrate our past by watching some of our old (as old as we can find on our network nowadays) programming. Yes, that's right, enjoy an evening of "Cheers" and the "Cosby Show."
Nick at Nite at 20: 10 Years of the Home for Classic TV and 10 Years for the Home of NBC 80's regurgitation of their lineups.
Czas na Zywiec 06-15-2003, 05:15 PM Knowing them, it'll be a 3 week long marathon of the Cosby Show. I can already see it.
"Join on in July for our three week Cosby marathon! Each day, a different person will be hosting 8 wonderful hours of the Cosby Show along with the retrospective at the end of each rotation. We expect 5 glorious rotations of your favorite show, so you won't want to miss this" [Bill cosby appears with a huge grin on his face]
[Cue the barfing.]

You know, I can really see that happening. Seriously. In fact, if the 20th anniversary were this year, that's probably exactly what the special would be. The only question is, in 2005, will Cosby Show still be Nick's favorite? I kinda doubt it. That is two years away, and we've all seen just how quickly a show can go from being Nick's golden child to kind of an afterthought on the schedule.

peter may 06-18-2003, 09:56 AM i highly doubt that will happen, because for Nick to get hold of an episode of each show they have aired since 1985 would be too expensive and would be impossible anyway due to contractual reasons

When it was their tenth anniversary, they showed "The Best Episode" of most of their past shows. I'd like them to do that again. The only problem with their "Best Episodes" is that the episodes Nick thought were the best were some of my least favorite episodes.
benjamoon 06-18-2003, 04:58 PM It probably will have something to do with the Cosby Show, lol - it's just wishful thinking
I don't think it'd be too much trouble to purchase the rights to air a couple episodes from each of their old shows. N@N or TV Land have rights to A LOT of them and they could probably get limited access to the others
