Yes, I'm finally giving in and getting a new VCR. I'm tired of "walking on eggshells" around my RCA VCR always afraid that the tape might tear or get chewed, although I'll keep the VCR simply for the fact that I have a ton of tapes from it and tapes are best on the machines they come from...

Now, to the topic. I'm looking for a rather inexpensive VCR, preferably under $60, that's of good quality. I know Emerson, Symphonic, Sanyo, Orion, Sansui, Sharp, Funai/Sylvania, etc...are all pretty cheap, yet they seem iffy quality/durability-wise. I really like RCA, yet they seem to be steadily staying at around $80-90 and not going down in price. I definitely want a 4-head Hi-Fi machine, so I'm probably relegated now to one of the above listed brands...does anyone here own these brands and can tell me some pros/cons about them? Sharp, I think is probably the best, and their Hi-Fi sets are usually around $55, but I want durability as well...help!!

Also, can you believe the price of DVD players? I've seen some already for $34.99!! Granted, their not the best brands, but I never dreamed I'd see VCRs more expensive than DVD players!
