When Gordy takes over for Ted and Gordy says, "This is Gordon Howard, filling in for the...vacationing Ted Baxter." And Ted comes running in, and says, "Thank you, Gordy, for filling in for me, when I was in the men's room.

Hi King,
I'm 99% sure that's from "The Good-Time News." TV Gen, help me out here. I remember the scene, and I think it's right after Lou announces that Ted will have a co-anchor, and Ted threatens to quit.

Well if it's not ep. #49, then it may be from ep. #57 "Farmer Ted and the News". (Ted was trying to renegotiate his Contract and threatened to walk off the set.)

Now there's an episode I can't remember! (Hard to believe, isn't it? ;)) What episode is it when Mary explains to Ted how she always wanted to be a famous ballerina and then puts on her toe shoes and ends up screaming? I know it happened in the new apartment, but for the life of me, I can't think what episode it was!

I think that's ep. #125 "Ted's Moment of Glory" where he says, "That's right! At least I'm on TV (?) somewhere, but you're not a ballerina anywhere."

Edit:I watched the tape of "Ted's Moment of Glory" from Columbia House, and this scene wasn't there. Now I'm even more confused b/c I thought TV Gen was right! Any other guesses?

it's definitely from "The Good Time News." ted was mad because gordy was co-anchor and ted had to be the straight man. ted threatened to walk off, and did. ted later rethought and came back. i love this episode!

The first one is "The Good Time News"

The one Kristen mentioned I was almost sure was from "Ted's Moment of Glory" but I guess not? I remember that scene specifically too but I can't place it

It's not "Ted's Moment of Glory" b/c I watched it last night. I thought it was that ep too, until I watched LOL. Could it be "Hail the Conquering Gordy"? Because in the scene I can't place, I remember Mary saying something to Ted about dreams not coming true, and remember how Ted wanted to go to NY with Gordy?

^^^ Now that you mention it, it could be that episode. I think he was talking about it when he found out how much Gordy made or something to that extent

OK, I guess I need to sign up for MTM Summer School!
"Hail, the Conquering Gordy" sounds like the right choice then. I remember what led up to it:
Mary was telling Ted that, from time to time, everyone believes their lives don't measure up to their dreams.

(If those jerks from 20th Century Fox Video would finish the DVD series, we'd eventually have a ready reference library to consult!)
