I am a new viewer to this terrific sitcom, but why do you think NBC cancelled it?

NBC moved the show back to Tuesday and it lost 50% of it's audience.

I read an article a few years back and Wendie Malick said that the show was only going to go on for 2 more years, so I think the cast was ready for it to end, of course probably not midseason but.......

NBC kept moving it around and around and it lost its audience.

It was a very underrated show, it made me laugh until the end. NBC just gave it a really bad treatment.

JSM was a great show. maybe it was better off to be on another network like CBS and have it to be paired with Becker for some reason. sigh....

I think that when they brought in Kevin's character into the mainstream, it went down from there. The writing towards the end wasn't that good. It was a great show though, one of my favorites out there.

I hope it comes on dvd soon!

Just on Wikipedia looking at the ratings... Seasons 5 and 6 were getting terrific rankings (comparatively) and then jumped to the worst ranking in its history, by 5x lower than the previous two seasons. That's very odd.

I fell in love with this sitcom through Laura San Giacomo and although she isn't actually all that funny compared to some of the cast like David Spade and Enrico, it's still a good comedy. I do see why they brought Finch as the main character as the seasons went on, as he's a bright spark.
