i loved that episode last night! one of my favorites.

my two favorite parts were:

-when Joe caught up to Helen at the airport before she left, and was trying to reason with her to stay. He didn't care that they were making a huge scene in front of everyone in the airport- he only cared about getting her to stay with him. And then when she was actually leaving, and she gave him a hug and said "bye Joe.", that was so sad! I almost cried! lol. and I don't cry at TV shows or movies very often at all. but I seriusly almost cried. Joe looked so sad!

-and then the scene in the elevator! That was great. awwwww! I almost cried again at that part- I think it was when Joe said "I love you. I've always loved you.". it was the way he said it, and the look on Helen's face when he said that.
But yeah, that whole scene was great.
eeee they're getting married! :D

oh, and I also like the part when Joe and Brian were fighing and wrestling with each other over who got to use the plane. lol! That was cute. hahaha

I liked when Joe was making breakfast for Helen. That was so sweet. Then he gave Brian the speech about "playing it cool." And then later Joe was as desperate and un-cool as Brian! lol.

TERRIFIC episode!

Tim and Crystal gave another powerful performance. When Joe was giving Helen that "we belong together" speech in the elevator, his voice actually took on a different tone or sound....

There was a desperation and passion in his voice that came across...and I love Helen's reactions through all of it. She tried to fight Joe's pleading and get rid of him, but she kept having this "Oh NO...What do I do NOW?" expression on her face.

I also love how the studio audience reacted to her agreeing to marry Joe....that applause seemed spontaneous and genuine...and I'll bet that when they filmed that show, there wasn't a dry eye in the house!

I LOVE this episode too!!!! It was so hilarious and touching at the same time. That's what's great about Wings. Even the "serious" episodes are laugh-out-loud hilarious. :D

I love the part in the airport when everyone is commenting on Helen's glow! And then later when she tells Joe "What happened last night was just sex! That's all it was, just sex!" and realizes that everyone is listening.:lol:

I LOVE the "Hackett brothers" routine, that started off with them being lady-killers and then ended up with them being grizzly old men who people are afraid of!

This is the part that made me laugh loudest in this episode...when Lowell has the airplane keys and Joe and Brian are yapping at him like two animals, and he says "Who wants the keys?" and "Keys, keys, keys" while dangling them in front of the boys. :lol:

Finally, of course was the elevator scene. It just made my heart melt!!!!! Krista, it was actually Helen who said "I love you, I've always loved you." It made me almost cry too!! Well, maybe Joe said it too, but I remember Helen saying it, and as soon as she does, she realizes it full force. Crystal did a wonderful job in that scene. Then she says "What the hell kind of reason is that to get married?" and Joe says "Well, its no 'he asked me first' but its all I got.":D

Then Joe's speech. I don't even have any words to describe it. Oh my goodness, every time I see that scene I can't believe how passionate he is!!! Tim Daly gets an A++++++ for that scene. He's a wonderful comedic actor, but he really shines in these dramatic moments.

I'm so glad Helen and Joe are together again!!! Like Joe said, they belong together!!:love:

Oh yeah! That was so funny! It was like Lowell was playing with his dogs.

BTW, Lowell was great in this two-parter IMO. He gives Joe the speech about Joe's listening problem, he's the one that picks up on Helen looking like she'd just had sex, the keys, the pillow! He was great.

I have one bad thing happen which I wasn't going to mention... somehow the timing of my cable box & the show was off. My box thought it was 1:30 right in the middle of Joe's speech in the elevator and it switched off. Luckily I was awake & flipped it back on! I got to hear most of the speech, but am sad because I missed part of it and that kind of messed up the moment for me! I can't believe that the one speech I was really looking forward to hearing got screwed up. :mad:

Yes, Lowell WAS a stitch in this episode....I loved his "Try cracking open a book, Pretty Boy!" remark at Joe!

However, I DID notice something rather unpleasant with this episode....People here have mentioned Antonio's miserable bitterness in the final seasons, which is a far cry from his earlier, happy-go-lucky innocence.

Maybe it was just this particular episode, but I sensed his bitterness starting to creep in here...it was certainly a different Antonio than what I've been used to.

I don't know if it keeps up from here, but I DID notice it in this episode....now I have a pretty good idea of what you "Later Episode Viewers" have been talking about!

I noticed the same thing about Antonio! I knew it was coming because I've seen the later seasons of Wings. Its the early seasons I really never saw before. But I definately noticed in last night episodes that its starting. Even when Antonio becomes bitter, I don't dislike him, but it sad that had to happen to such a sweet guy. But he IS still a sweet guy. Its just intermingled with moments of bitterness.

The show definately changes in the later seasons. Lowell's gone, Casey's there, Helen and Joe are married, Antonio does become very bitter sometimes, Faye's different, Brian's different...everything is just different, you know? Still a great show, but different. I think Roy's the only thing to stay the same. Thank goodness for Roy!;)

That's an interesting point. The other night I payed close attention to the audience reaction when Helen agreed to marry Davis and there was almost no reaction from the audience. Yet in the elevator scene, as you pointed out, the audience came alive with a joyous and genuine response when she said yes to Joe. I think that demonstrates how great the chemistry was between the two characters and how it was something the audience wanted to see.

I also have to add that the elevator scene is one of my favorite moments of the entire series. The writing and acting was just incredible. Both performances by Crystal and Tim were just so good. When Helen turns to Joe and says, "of course I love you, I've always loved you"....wow, powerful stuff. Especially for sit-com TV.

Another highlight for me was the "we're the Hackett brothers" scene. I love how they went from lady killers to scary old men in a matter of seconds. That reminds me of another classic episode later on in the series when Brian imagines his single life as he's in his 50's.

Hmm...that's a good question. I don't know exactly. I always thought she was a bit different in the later seasons, but now that I think about it, I don't know how exactly. So scratch what I said about Faye for now!

hehe yeah, that's another reason why I tape every episode too. So I can watch it a second time the next night, because I find sometimes I miss stuff, or mix stuff up, or i forget about stuff, because I was almost falling asleep. or even if I wasn't falling asleep, it's just too late for me to be completely alert. lol.
even an hour earlier would be so much better!
When I was in school i didn't mind the 1 AM timeslot, because I didn't have to get up that early the next day, but now for work, I have to get up at 7 every morning! hehe so i'm only getting 5 and a half hours of sleep every night. haha.

Unfortunately, I fell asleep before the episode was on last night, no matter how much I kept telling myself, "You HAVE to stay awake for this episode." Luckily, I have most of it on tape, just not the beginning.:mad: I think this is one of the best episodes, and that scene in the elevator is one of the best scenes out of all the episodes. The acting is great, and the way Tim delivers that speech is so touching, it just makes me melt every time. The way he says that line, "That's our life, those are our children, that's our marriage." :sigh::love:
