that there are not a lot of NBA and NFL fans on the sports board. During football season i think it was only like 4 people and about the same for the NBA. But other than that the site is still COOL!!!. I just hope and pray more sports fans come to SO.

I agree, heck there are only the 3 of us on the NASCAR thread and we make it go just fine, I happen to be a football fan to and once football season come I will be there in full force. Like Dawsongirl said life goes on.

Contrary to the previous poster, I like virtually all of the people - some of them a lot. The only thing that comes to mind is that SOL is very addictive, and I usually end up spending more time here than I probably should.

I agree. I'm one of those 4 football fans but it's a lot better than having no football fans. That would drive me crazy!

It sure does.

While we're on the subject, there's pretty much no other college basketball fans besides yours truly...but I make the best of it. :p

Yeah, but at least NBA talk is more popular than MLB. Hardly anybody posting about baseball. And then other sports aren't getting any attention either. Maybe I thought basketball was real active because of the few of you that participate in the discussions keep it going.

It bugs me when I get sucked in by something. I avoid pinball machines because I know that they'll suck me in.:)

LOL, yeah that was it. Too bad you don't talk about baseball. Maybe that would liven things up. But then... as much as I like baseball, I don't think there is as much to say about it as there is basketball. I mean, when I'm with my friends we can talk up a storm about the MLB, but I think it's just different on here.

That stinks. I have to watch the whole season. And you won't ever be watching the Phillies in October. Hope you like some other teams. LOL.

Yeah the Phillies won't be around in October. The philadelphia media was hyping the phillies up before the season started because the philies signed Jim Thome. Well they have Thome and are 10 games out of first-LOL.

Yeah, so much for Jim Thome. It's funny when the media gets all jazzed when their lousy baseball team signs on a spectacular player. As if that player can carry the team on their shoulders. The Phillies need a lot more work. I don't follow them anymore, but it wasn't good when I saw their series against the Mariners. I wish they'd get it together. Maybe I'd become a fan again.

Yeah, getting rid of the politics board seems to have cured the "slowness" problem pretty well. Funny to think back now at how many people were bickering about S.O. needing to upgrade their service plan to speed things up, when a much simpler solution solved the problem so nicely. :)

Every now and then an interesting topic pops up and sometimes it's an old one that has been bumped up after being dormant for many yrs. I miss the politics and my main thrust in life is good health and that is a void here. If I didn't have a few other forums to go to I'd be up a creek with boredom. For me too I'm pretty burned out from the last couple yrs and all that has happened in our lives. My 2cents.

I like college basketball somewhat. I like March Madness because unlike football, small schools have the opportunity to be in the tournament and some small schools advance, the so called "Cinderellas".

The NBA? Not so much even though obviously the game play is much more superior. One complaint maybe is that the NBA season is LOOOONG, the pre-season is in October, the regular season is in November and it lasts until June. Each team plays 82 regular season games plus a long playoff march, where the eventual winner has to win, what, 12 to 16 more games?

Is there loyalty and huge fans of these teams like in the NFL? I guess there is since most of these franchises have been around for many decades. I do like the NBA because the league gave my city of Memphis, Tennessee a team (the team was bought from Vancouver and had to meet NBA approval. For about 30 years, Memphis has tried to get an NFL franchise, but failed at every turn. Nashville got the NFL team instead. I think now I can see why the NFL wouldnt work in Memphis, but the NBA took the chance on the city and the team has been there for about 25 years.

I think another reason I am just not interested is jealousy, that these guys in their 20's are making astronomical salaries for playing this game. Not just the top players, but players the casual fan has never heard of making millions a year. I just am not interested dropping $30-50 dollars to sit to watch millionaires play. At least in the NFL, the game is more interesting to me, but the players risk themselves and can get injured.
