Did Clay or Ruben get a higher rating on the billboard charts? Or have their cds not yet been released? If not, who do you think will get a higher rating?

Personally I think Ruben will. I have never watched American Idol, except for clips, but based on the little Iv'e heard, I think Ruben's music has a more diverse sound to it. I think people of all races, and colors will go out to get his record. Clay on the other hand I don't believe has as diverse a sound. For some reason I just can't envision droves of people of all different creeds and colors waiting outside Tower Records to buy his cd. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think his music will probably sell best to teenage girls, and broadway fans. Also I think the fact that Ruben is a cool looking dude will benefit him greatly. Clay looks kind of dorky, and unfortunately we live in a society where how you look even affects record sales. Those reasons, as well as the fact that he was the winner, are why I think Ruben will do better.

Nooo, if that was the case about looks, why would Clay even make it into the top two?

His single sold more than Ruben's. I bet his CD will have better sales too.

Well as far as looks go, all you have to do is watch MTV for a day, and see that in most cases, looks most definitely matter. Probably close to 90 percent of the artists on MTV are beautiful, or cool looking, and that's not a coinscidence. Also, If looks don't matter, then why did Clay change his original look from when he debuted on American Idol, to the slightly more cool, and fashionable look he ended with? I saw a clip of that Simon guy mocking, and ridiculing the way he looked, and then in the next clip it was a whole new Clay. So obviously looks do matter.

I am surprised that Clay sold more cds though, that's for sure. You would think that the guy who won the contest would sell more records, but I guess not. I guess the fact that it was such a small margin of victory can explain why Clay outsold him.

Anyway congratulations to Clay. He seems like a good guy, and anybody who cares about his mom as much as he seems to is alright with me!

They gave all the top finalists complete make-overs and they wanted to do Clay the most. He couldnt care less, he's proud of who he is and he said so himself that it was a singing contest, not a beauty contest.:D

(in reference to the post above).. the reason being is because many people LIKE ruben, but they're not CRAZY about him, meaning that they dont wanna go out and get his single. In the case of Clay, his fans ADORE him (have u seen some of the Clay fans!), and they would definately support their boy

You need not tell me about mtv and good looking singers. I know exactly what you're talking about. But I never said looks didn't matter with Clay. What I meant was that many people voting for him don't see him the way you do. I know plenty of people think he's an attractive guy. If they hadn't, he would have made it in the top 2. Even if he also got their on his vocal abilities, which he did for sure.

How else do you explain him getting in the top two, if his looks didn't appeal to people, since we all know looks sell? There are people who would be considered more attractive than him who he beat out in the competition.

As far as Ruben selling more... that sounds resonable because he beat Clay in AI. but since I know Clay's single did better (hmm, isn't that curious), his CD will probably do better too.

Joshua Gracin is a perfect example. Im sorry, but he only sounded good when he did country. But since he was cute and had that "look" he mananged to be top 4.
