Now that Alex is history in the current "NICK" run, how about some info on the upcoming character Casey Davenport?

Being that I've never watched "Wings" before this, I'm kind of confused on what to expect with Casey....Some fans have described her as whiny, others say that she's a stuck-up snob, and still others say that she acts kind of slutty. I'm hearing so many different descriptions of this character....at least with Alex you KNEW that you were getting a "tough babe".

So what IS the scoop on Casey?

Pilotguy,

It's kind of disappointing, because according to the schedule, they aren't going to be running the episode that introduced the Casey character. They did run it during the marathon, but I don't know if you saw it.

So it might be kind of hard for you to get a feel for the character to begin with. In that first episode she shows up right on the night Joe has big plans to give Helen an engagement ring. Casey is distraught because her husband, Stewart, has left her.

Anyways....as far my thoughts on the character, I felt Amy Yasback did a great job and was funny. I liked the Alex character, but I also liked the Casey character, but maybe I'm just easy?

Her character was definitely a bit snobbish, especially since her husband was well off and she was accustomed to the good life. But as the series went on, she was forced to adjust to a more pedestrian lifestyle. One of my favorite Casey episodes was when she was arranging a surprise engagement party for Joe and Helen.

But, I think where the character failed and where the creators of the show made a mistake, was getting her involved with Brian. That just never worked for me, and was just too silly. I liked her character better when she was completely at odds with Brian and when Antonio was in love with her.

Argh, I'm so mad!!! I just wrote this long post and my finger slipped and the entire thing was deleted in one fell swoop!

So here we go again...regarding Casey. I agree, the only problem with Casey is that they paired her up with Brian. Not in a relationship, thank goodness, but they simply become paired off because Helen and Joe have each other now and they have no one. It's not just me that's saying that, that's the actual premise of their relationship. They have sex once in a while and hang out with each other (and do become friends), and that's about it. Its really strange, and I'm not sure why the writers went in that direction. There was so much more potential with Casey and Antonio, but they didn't explore that possibility.

Despite that, I really like the character of Casey. Much better than Alex. She is kind of snobby, but she's funny at the same time. I think Amy Yasbeck is a good actress, and she and Crystal Bernard have a good chemistry.

To sum it up, Casey and Brian get a thumbs down, while Casey herself gets a thumbs up.:)

All you need to know is that Casey isn't Helen. Redhead... Blonde... Redhead... Blonde...

Well when Casey first came to town I couldn't stand her cause she was so selfish, it was all about her problems, she didn't seem to care about Helen's happiness, but she seemed to evolve away from that.
I must be the only one who thought Casey and Brian were great together.

WTF??!!!
i just replied to someone and quoted, and typed a response, but when it posted, my response wasn't there! only the quoted thing!! rrr!!!

so i'm not gonna repeat everything i said, just that I'm disappointed that they're not showing that episode where Casey is introduced because it was shown in the marathon. I didn't see it during the marathon.

Well, double poo! (lol)

Sorry you missed it Krista, and I'm sorry that Nick decides to skip episodes just because they ran them over two months ago during the marathon.

The introduction of Casey is an episode called "Twisted Sister" and I thought it was pretty funny. The storyline of Joe trying to give Helen the engagement ring was funny, and they did a good job of establishing how Casey was a bit of a snob and why she was back in Helen's life. Plus the way Antonio fell for Casey was great.

Well, darn it anyway.....hopefully you'll get to see it next time.

Krista, those producers should be punished!
Ask yourself, what would Roy do in a situation like this? Right you are! Let's go fling poo at their houses!

I also have a question -- when Casey was first introduced, why did she get so mad when someone (I forgot who) asked her why she didn't have an accent like Helen?

I think it was Fay who asked her why she didn't have an accent and Joe insisted that she did before.

Casey was really a big snob in the beginning and wasn't particularly proud of her past. She wanted people to see her as the socialite from California.

She didn't get mad when someone ASKED about the accent...she got mad when Joe kept insisting that she USED to have an accent.

Apparently snooty Casey associated a Southern twang with being less-than-elegant....of course, she also had a real problem with big sandwiches!

That's the great thing about the way that "Wings" handled the Joe-Casey relationship....

It would have been so easy just to have them fight in openly hostile, insult-filled shouting matches, much like Ralph Kramden and his Mother-In-Law in "The Honeymooners", but they DIDN'T....

Instead they gave Joe and Casey sort of a subtle hostility between them. You just KNEW that Joe didn't like Casey, and that he thought that she was a snooty pain....and you also knew that Casey thought that Joe was a loser and not worthy of marrying into her family, but they more or less kept their opinions to themselves....but every so often a tense moment would come along and their REAL feelings towards each other would come out.

I still say Antonio and Casey would have made a great and very interesting couple :D

I think Casey is a doll and her character is interesting. Amy Yaskbeck did a wonderful job with the role and has very good comedic talent. I think some people are so hooked on Helen, that other females aren't given a fair shake.

I like Helen the best, but I liked Alex and I really like Casey too.

Casey has been given such a bum rap by some "Wings" fans that I was expecting the worst when the later "Casey" episodes started running on NICK....but I found her to be HILARIOUS!

Amy's comedy timing and delivery are great....and some of those facial expressions of hers really crack me up!

As I've mentioned before, the first season she was a real pain in the butt...but her character was SUPPOSED to be!
However, a season of living on Nantucket with the group seemed to soften her and make her more "one of the gang".

I think that Amy and her character of Casey were a real asset to the "Wings" series....especially during it's final seasons when the show really needed some new characters and story ideas.

I've been defending Casey all along, and I don''t really know why so many Wings fans don't like her. I think Casey is great. She was snobby in the beginning, but in a funny way. then later on, she "became one of the gang", as pilotguy put it.
Casey could be really really funny at times. I agree with pilotguy- Amy had really great comedic timing, and some really funny facial expressions.

One of the funniest things Casey ever did was in that episode when Helen finds out that she's still married to Antonio, so Helen, Antonio, and Brian have to go to Mexico to get Helen and Antonio divorced without Joe finding out, and Helen told Casey to cover for her, and tell Joe that Helen was at the store if he asks.... so anyway, Joe comes over to the lunch counter, and says something not even having to do with Helen, and Casey blurts out, "Helen's at the store!" And then Joe is talking to that woman who was going with Brian to Mexico, and she was about to say who she was going with, and so Casey just stands there and screams. I just think that's so funny because it's so rediculous. And Joe's like, "what are you screaming about?" and she goes, "oh, I saw a mouse. in the kitchen.... before." hahaha. It's just so funny how she says it... so Joe goes into the kitchen. and then Helen, and Antonio, and everyone run out into the hangar.. and them Joe goes to walk into his office, and Casey stands there and SCREAMS again. and Joe's like, "what's going on?!!" and she stands there and says, "...Helen's at the store!"
That whole scene just struck me so funny every time I saw it, and it's one of my favorite Casey moments. lol. I think she's so funny.

At first I wasn't a Casey fan because of how she treated Helen, like Helen was no good or something. Then when she became "one of the gang". I really started to like her. I am one of the rare few who liked her with Brian, and thought they had a great chemistry. :)

I like Brian and Casey together too! In their own way, they had great comedy chemistry just like Joe and Helen had...only different.

Brian and Casey would banter back and forth, and neither would take the other's nonsense....

Even after the "compulsive sex" business cooled down between them, and they became "platonic housemates", they STILL had great "give and take" chemistry.
One of my favorite later episodes is the one where they're both home sick with a bad case of the flu and Casey has a big date that she's trying to get ready for....

The back-and-forth cracks between the two of them are hilarious, and they eventually developed sort of an "Odd Couple" relationship as housemates who were VERY different, but also alike in some ways.

So while some "Wings" fans may not like the fact that Brian and Casey hooked up in the bedroom, there were a lot of OTHER aspects of their relationship that made them one HILARIOUS team!

And I agree. I think Brian and Casey went well together.
