Do you know if "Cheers" has been bought by anybody else besides Nickelodeon? I mean is there any possibility of perhaps seeing it on WGN or TBS?

Nope, Cheers is on Nick@Nite through 2008. They paid big bucks for it. WGN has some sort of Paramount thing though, they air Hillbillies and Happy Days, while it airs on other cable channels, but I doubt a major acquisition like Cheers will air on another cable channel, at least not until 2008.

Nick @ Nite must not have exclusive rights because locals still air it.. I thought if a network got exclusive rights (like Lifetime and Disney), then it can't air on locals...?

I don't think it's exclusive though. With the big bucks Nick@Nite paid, I'm saying it'll probably not be on any other cable networks (e.g. WGN).

Ahh... okay. It must not be exclusive because, like I said, a lot of locals still air it.

this is the impression im under, so someone tell me if im wrong:

stations that bought syndication rights to the show PRE-REMASTERING can continue to air these unremastered eps until their contract expires, or sooner

any station can buy the rights to the new remastered eps now, but ONLY syndicated versions (short theme, more cuts, etc). N@N has exclusive rights to the full versions, which THEY themselves cut up

MAYBE stations can still buy syndicated unremastered eps, but who would want to?

im forgetting something else, but i cant think of what it is rght now...
