View Full Version : A Decent Proposal HaskellGirl 06-10-2003, 09:52 PM Is this episode coming on tonight?!!! NOBODY MISS IT!!!!!!!! This is definately one of the best of the series. Krista2882 06-10-2003, 11:09 PM yeah eee! I can't wait to see it! T minus 1 hour & 50 minutes and counting! lol pilotguy 06-11-2003, 01:42 AM I just saw this episode, and it really bowled me over! I know that everyone always talks about Joe's proposal scene in the elavator....I haven't seen that yet, and I'm sure that it's a powerful and emotional scene, but that tension-filled scene with Joe congratulating Helen in her living room was GREAT stuff! You could just FEEL the whole mood of the scene changing from "Wow, isn't this GREAT?" to "Oh NO, what's going ON here? This really means the END for us!". Yes, Tim and Crystal really packed a whollop in that scene! HaskellGirl 06-11-2003, 02:04 AM I LOVE this episode!!!!! #1, Hair plugs. LOL!!!!! That poor guy!!! "I know things look spotty right now, but in a few months, we'll see some new growth" "Oh, honey, you didn't get them done down at the mall, did you?" "Joe, I know what the problem is. Bad plugs." :D #2, Helen attacking Antonio and Roy. You know, that's another reason why its so wonderful they got Crystal Bernard to play Helen. There's so much great physical comedy there, with this tiny person who is at times extremely vulnerable and sensitive and other times a fiery pistol. Kudos to Crystal!!! #3, Brian singing. Wasn't that priceless?!?! "So Alex! I just found out that nothing rhymes with Alex! Except maybe...no, nothing rhymes with Alex!" LOL. You know, Steven Weber is a good singer. Well, I guess we all knew that, considering he was in the Producers.;) #4, The Scene. I LOVE THAT SCENE!!!!!! It was absolutely perfect all the way through, from Joe picking up Helen and swinging her around to him closing the door and Helen looking after him. I love how she wanted Joe to be her best man, then maid of honor. "You know, you really are my best friend." AWWW!!!!! And the kisses!!! So sweet!!! #5, Bed. 'Nough said. :D And the second part of this episode is just as wonderful!!!!! *sigh* I'm in Wings heaven!!!!!:loveya: pilotguy 06-11-2003, 02:06 AM I just thought of something.... Can you imagine being a diehard "Wings" fan when that "A Decent Proposal" episode was first shown on NBC? Imagine not knowing that Joe and Helen eventually get married... and imagine having to wait until the fall season for the next episode after seeing Joe and Helen in bed together.... Yes, for a loyal and avid fan of the first-run "Wings" series, that summer of waiting must have been sheer TORTURE! AgtSkye 06-11-2003, 06:29 AM Yeah, I was there to experience that the first time around. At the time it seemed bad, but in retrospect it prepared me for something much worse...X-Files finales/premieres for just about every other season. That show will just kill you if you are into it. I guess you could say I teethed on "Wings" lol, and XF was like pulling teeth. I hadn't seen that ep that was on tonight in years, and "Whose Wife is it Anyway" will be cool to see as well tonight for the same reason. I just feel bad for Brian. Truly. I think in real life someone wouldn't have been that hard on him for what he was doing the last couple episodes. I think they just did it cos they were having Farrah Forke leave. Kind of out of character, I think...but then maybe not cos Alex has always been tough as nails. Right before Brian started displaying the sketchy behavior tho, they were so into each other. I wouldn't think Alex, at that stage, would drop him so fast. Anne pilotguy 06-11-2003, 06:56 AM Originally posted by AgtSkye . I just feel bad for Brian. Truly. Here's another thought.... It's common knowledge that Farrah Forke was forced (or at least "asked") to leave "Wings". If Alex's breaking up with Brian WAS written especially to justify Farrah's forced exit, she could have easily kept her job and kept right on working.... All she had to do was every time the cameras rolled for her "throwing Brian out" scene, she could have thrown her arms around Brian and said, "It's OK, honey...I FORGIVE YOU!".... Just try and get rid of her after THAT! :D Krista2882 06-11-2003, 08:29 AM yeah, the episode last night- it was funny how everyone was making fun of that guy's hair plugs. haha! and I loved how Helen attacked both Antonio and Roy. LOL she's great. and Brian singing- hehe It's one of those things were I was cringing because he was making a jackass out of himself, but it was really funny. I loved this line in his song: "So Alex! I just found out that nothing rhymes with Alex. Except maybe...no, nothing rhymes with Alex!" hehehe. but the BEST part was the scene when Joe went over to Helen's house... that scene was so full of tension and electricity... wow. I don't think I've ever seen another episode where there was SO much chemistry between the two of them- it was from the moment he walked into her house you could feel it... and then it kept mounting... and then the kisses- wow! and I thought that was so cute that Helen wanted Joe to be her Best Man, or Maid Of Honor. lol! But yeah, that was the best scene ever! hehe. and I loved Brian's reaction at the end when he caught Joe and Helen in bed together. lol! ~Krista :cow: wingshock 06-11-2003, 08:44 AM Originally posted by AgtSkye Yeah, I was there to experience that the first time around. I wouldn't think Alex, at that stage, would drop him so fast. Yes, definitely! It was all to get rid of Farrah. I personally don't think that Alex could've resisted Brian's begging. The only thing that kind of saves it for me is that when I think about it -- Brian seemed to always have doubts about whether he wanted a serious monogamous relationship. It was like when he had it, he didn't really want it. But when he lost it, he wanted it back. Maybe Alex thinks if she takes Brian back he will return to the "do I really want one girl?" mode. Here's ANOTHER thought....Knowing how certain companies have sneaky ways of getting rid of employees that they don't want, I wonder if Farrah Forke KNEW that she was being ousted at the time those "Dumping Brian" episodes were filmed! Perhaps the producers led Farrah to believe that the "dumping" storyline was a big end-of-season cliffhanger which would be resolved with her in the fall: "Farrah, this will be a GREAT storyline for you and Steven. You'll have the viewers as riveted as Tim and Crystal do....and just WAIT until you see what we have planned for you NEXT season!". That COULD have happened! That COULD have happened! like in that movie "Office Space" when they found out that they had laid off some guy from the company and frogot to tell him, and there was a glitch in payroll, so he was still getting his paycheck.. so they said they fixed the glitch so he wouldn't be paid anymore, but they didn't tell the guy he was fired. they said they would let things work themselves out, because they like to "avoid conflict whenever possible." LOL! that movie is great. Kris10m 06-12-2003, 01:58 AM Originally posted by pilotguy I just thought of something.... Yes, for a loyal and avid fan of the first-run "Wings" series, that summer of waiting must have been sheer TORTURE! Actually, I do remember when this was on NBC. I wasn't a "diehard" Wings fan then, but I did watch the show sometimes and really like it. And that's one of the only episodes that I actually vividly remember seeing back then. I remember thinking, "Oh great, now I have to wait through the whole summer to see what happens." This is one of the only season finales of any show that I can remember that got me truly hooked. Yes, I definitely remember the torture of having to wait through the summer to see what happened! |
