I"m kind of doing this backwards but I trusted the guy and he seemed friendly enough. He even asked me at one point to see if I knew anything about a person he was doing a new trade with. He postes on the board. His user ID isjroxx2002 I haven't heard from him since Friday and I usually hear from him alot. Two weeks ago he said he sent my tapes which is 23 tapes. But it is media mail and with that many tapes it could take a while. But when I sent my tapes media mail he got mine in 4 days. I keep asking him for the delivery confromation # to track the package. He wanted other shows from me to but this time just traded for all of married with children which is 23 tapes. Maybe I will get his tapes tommrow. Please post here or email me with anything good or bad. This is just a trader check and not a bad trader post.

One thing that I do when checking on someone is to check on http://www.google.com and put quotes around the person's name and also write video trade, or something similar (i.e. "john doe" video trade). If a person has been a bad trader you may find links to that affect, though search results tend to be not current enough for my taste.

I might have to start the you send first thing but I like to send at the same time and he sent a day before I did. If I don't hear at least an email from him at the end of the week I may consider him a bad trader. Next tuesday will be 3 weeks. I know it's a lot of tapes so it may take that long. What is the longest has anyone gotten their tapes with media mail and with around 20 tapes? This guy didn't live in California. I think it was somewhere in the middle of the U.S. I"m from South Carolina.

I know what you mean about email, u would feel a lot better if you heard something from him. BUt getting no response makes him look like a bad trader. I normally only get one tape at a time because tape trading is too risky. But i hope you get your tapes tomorrow.

I've never traded with him but you made my eyes bug out of my head when you said FIFTY TAPES. Goodness. There are only 1 or 2 people on this board I'd trade more than 5 tapes with at a time. I can't even imagine suggesting a 50 tape trade. Lordy. I'd never have the time to make them all.

I have 2 tapes on the way from two different traders. So when was the last time you received a email response from him?

It was for 20 tapes. But he wanted 50. Sorry I confused you. Thanks for your concern. I wouldn't trade that much tapes for a 1st time trade. I have done a first time trades with 20 tapes with a couple other people before and it worked out fine.

Media mail in 4 days is entirely possible. I live in North Dakota, and one time I had a customer from California email me just a few days after I sent it. I didn't question him about it and was just glad that it arrived so quickly, for his sake.

Some folks aren't super great at answering their emails, either. Not everyone answers their emails everyday.

It is always hard to wait, but I seriously wouldn't worry until it's been a month or so, though it usually only takes up to a couple of weeks. It does seem hopeful that he actually emailed you on the 5th, rather than just ignoring you completely. That'd comfort me, anyway.

Another thing you can do is to check the search engines on video trade boards, but it has been my experience that con artists use many aliases, not just one.

And it's nothing more frusrating than checking your box for your tapes and you have a bill or junk mail instead. I was wondering why is the first 8 digits of the dc# the same as the one on two of my receipts? I'm a new tape raderso i don't know. 0302-2940-is the first 8 digits on my receipt also.

Yeah. Each day I keep hoping it comes. I guess some of the dc# are the same to make it easier for the post office or something. Just a guess.

Someone just confirmed it for me. This guy is a bad trader. Someone I trade with said this guy contacted him over the weekend and they wanted all of seinfeld from them. This guy wanted to get all of seinfeld from me! I just sent an email to the guy who ripped me off and I put in the subject you are a bad trader to get his attention. I been emailing him everyday. The person I trade with sent him his list and I asked if my shows were on there. I should know the answer to that soon but I already know the answer myself. Here is a copy of the email I sent to him.

23 tapes is alot of tapes. I am now going to start the you send first. I am to trusting but after this I need to do something. I'm sooooooooo sorry to hear about this. I did check the other day to see if this guy chrisandjas@msn.com trades on any of the boards I'm a member of, and he does. If you are a member of http://groups.yahoo.com/group/videotape-trading/ you might want to contact the moderator there with his name/address as well as posting the same on this board to ward off others of this behavior.

I didn't find it with the google check, either. Searches with Google generally only show up stuff that's been on-line for awhile, though I wish I knew approximately where the cut-off date was.

I found Jason's post by typing in the email address under the search engines of my trading groups and came up with it. His ID is kix_dude on there, by the way.

I know that this won't bring your tapes back, but at least it'll give you some satisfaction exposing the fox in the hen house.

I also see John is doing a trader check by someone who thinks he got ripped off by someone who's name is Jason. And Jason had all of the wonder years and all of beavis and butthead on his list. And the email is different from the one I have. This could be a serious bad trader folks.

Americandreamsfan said he had a trade with Jason and it went well. I just asked him how long it took for him to get his tapes. I would of responded sooner but had bad storm here that lasted from 6pm to midnight. It rained off and on and thundered alot. I"m currently doing a trade with John so I'll be sure to ask what you said. It is suspicious that the email I have is different from the one I have. And maybe I can ask John if it is the same address to.

She's nervous because she hasn't gotten the delivery confirmation number yet. Justing being able to look the number up on-line is a mighty big comfort to the recipient. It might not be a bad idea to provide that initially as a practice. I know I don't do that, but I think I'll start.

Not sure if he put delivery confromation on it in the first place like I thought he did. But he's going to redo the tapes again so that's good. I just hate for him to redo that many tapes. That's why it is always important to use delivery confromation on that many tapes.

That's for sure. I go through hundreds of delivery confirmation forms per year with our book business and video trading, and I've only had one situation where I absolutely needed that proof. It doesn't do much good to use delivery confirmation if you don't save the slip, either! :crazy:

I did one trade with this guy before. He said he mailed my tapes out, but i never got them, after about a month he said he would send out another set, i did receive them, so i cant complain.

I've heard the "I will replace them" story too many times to count. I'm afraid some use this as a crutch when they're behind in their trading. I have mailed out and received thousands of packages over the last five years with our book business. The only time I've had packages not arrive is when I've been dealing with a dishonest person. Packages do get lost, but not as rule as some would lead you to believe. A check on a trader's track record in this regard might not be a bad idea.

Let's keep everything above board and require delivery confirmation slips, and this will help keep dishonest traders honest.
