I'm not sure if all of you have heard of Molly Bish.... if not, here's the story.

Molly Ann Bish was waiting at Commins Pond in Warren, MA on June 27, 2000 to begin her regular lifeguarding classes. When parents started to show up 20 minutes later, Molly was gone. All that remained was her water bottle, police radio, and other small belongings. Of course they searched the woods, the pond, and the surrounding areas. A man in a white car is a prime suspect in the investigation. The case was featured on America's Most Wanted several times.

For the past 3 years, the state of MA has lived in suspense. There hasn't been any new leads at all... until last month. A blue bathing suit in the woods of Palmer, MA, the town next to Warren, was found. It was a suit resembling the one she was wearing the day she disappeared. They think she actually bought it at the Holyoke Mall... 15 minutes away from me. Anyway, a search began and they began to uncover a blanket, a hair-tie with blonde hair twined into it, teeth and bones. Over the past week, state, local, and other search teams have uncovered more bones and teeth thought to be hers.

Point being? It just came on the news an hour ago that the remains were DNA identified as Molly Bish. It's a very hard time for her family and the people of Warren, MA. It was even hard for myself, knowing the father, John Bish... I started crying. Molly has been the topic of numerous dinner conversations between my family and friends. I've followed the case from Day 1 and she has never left my thoughts. I just ask that you pray for the family and friends of Molly during this devastating time.

Oh my, that is so sad - my thoughts with her family. The Molly Bish case was also featured on Unsolved Mysteries and 48 Hours Investigates I know. There is also a thread on the UM board.

It's good to know they finally found out what happened to her. It's the worst thing that can happen but 3 years is a long time to wait. I hope they catch whoever did this to her.

They think it was someone local who did it, possibly the man in the white car who was seen there in the parking lot the day before.

But... even if they do have a suspect, sometimes they never get enough evidence. There was another case like this, 1 town over from me, in Agawam, MA. A girl by the name of Lisa Ziegart was abducted from the cardshop where she worked and stabbed to death. They found her 8 years later... the police know who did it. They really know... it's a local man. But they don't have enough evidence to prove it.

That's true. Especially since they just found bones and teeth. Any physical evidence has most likely been washed away after such a long time but with todays technology who knows what they can uncover. It's just scary knowing someone is out there killing young girls. Who knows how many other crimes he has gotten away with.

Awww, man, that's terrible. :( I figured she'd be found dead somewhere, but it's still pretty upsetting. I'll keep her family in mind.

I know how you and the victim's family feel. I remember last year when 7 year old Danielle Van Dam was kidnapped from her bedroom in her home and later found dead. The man convicted for her kidnapping and murder, David Westerfield, lived 10-15 minutes from where I live. The incident that Karly described just reminded me of that.

The Molly Bish story is dominating the headlines here in Massachusetts today. It's a tragic end. Her parents have kept their story going through the media for three years now.
When Elizabeth Smart was found, her parents were on TV saying they had renewed hope for Molly's safe return.
That poor girl and her family. Terrible loss.

Actually I only knew her father, John... I had met him at several events over the past few years. I never met the mother Magi, sister Heather, or knock on wood, Molly.... but still, it's hard for me. Just talking to John the last time I saw him (May 27th?), telling him I still had hope from Molly. Breaks my heart.
