I personally think in the wake of feminism it would not work because many would had been offended by Jeannie's worshipping Tony Nelson and referring to him as Master.

Adamantium 06-08-2003, 03:38 PM If it was on today, it would probably be TV-MA and show nudity. Well if they wanted me to watch it it would.:D Just Popped In 06-08-2003, 05:02 PM She probably wouldn't call him "master" as much, at least not in a respectful manner. And yes, I'm afraid it would show nudity, or at least indicate it somehow (and that's why I WOULDN'T watch it :o ) JaneTVFan 06-08-2003, 08:03 PM Originally posted by Just Popped In She probably wouldn't call him "master" as much, at least not in a respectful manner. After all, Jeannie was always a central part of Tony's household. We all know she didn't spend all those years sleeping in a bottle. Unless Tony was in it with her  (assuming you're referring to the years after Tony became her master....) Ok, seriously though, Barbara Eden's perception of Jeannie was that she was a "tomboy", so I guess that everyone has their own view of Jeannie and her standards. Ms Garthe Knight 06-09-2003, 09:32 AM I guess if they made it as innocent as the original it wouldn't last long on TV today. Maybe half a season at the most. Reason is people would want then in bed and as that not going to happen any time so or it would kill the show like it did with the first people would lose interest fast. I don't thinking the showing of the belly button is enough to keep a show on air. Think what the new outfit would be like, she might has well just have a veil on and that's all. I mean look at TV today. I pray for the day they make Alyssa Milano were more clothes - not that I hate her or anything Brandon 06-09-2003, 09:38 AM Originally posted by mstewart I personally think in the wake of feminism it would not work because many would had been offended by Jeannie's worshipping Tony Nelson and referring to him as Master. of course! if they make a new 'I Dream Of Jeannie', it would air on The WB and would be cancelled after 16 episodes. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 06-13-2003, 02:26 AM Originally posted by Brandon of course! if they make a new 'I Dream Of Jeannie', it would air on The WB and would be cancelled after 16 episodes. Like so many of their other shows. Tweety 07-07-2003, 11:21 PM No, it would not work today... Although I watched the show during the latter part of it's original run, I'm not that familiar with the time line of the series...how long did it take for Tony and Jeannie to get married? Third season? Fourth? Anyway, people who watch TV today wouldn't put up with a show that was as wholesome as I.D.O. J. was...the writers would run out of dialog and plots after about 1 1/2 episodes, and would have Tony and Jeannie sleeping together by the 2nd week...they certainly could not go 3 or 4 seasons without marrying them off, or at least having them sleeping together...and viewers today wouldn't put up with waiting that long for Tony and Jeannie to "do it"... Programs used to do 39 episodes per year, and they could run a whole season without mentioning or even alluding to sex...that would be impossible to do today....even though they only do 20 or 22 shows/season now... An I.D.O.J. series, modernized, wouldn't last a month... Having said that, I think it could work as a theatrical movie, if they could get the right cast for it...another board in the I.D.O.J. section asks for suggestions to play the roles in a prospective theatrical movie... I kind of like the idea of Lisa Kudrow as Jeannie... as I mentioned on that board, Lisa is beautiful, and has a great knack for comedy acting....
