I was wondering when people liked Beaver better. I found him very cute when he was a little guy but when he grew up he just became well,...Let's just say I don't feel he aged all that well. And his voice was VERRRRRRRRY ANNOYING!!!!! Is it just me that feels that way? One episode he drove me nuts in particular was that one where he gave June the silent treatment. I think Ward should have took a switch to that boy for treating his mother like that! I know it was just a show but, I wanted to smack him. Since I'm new to the show I haven't seen all the episodes. Any thoughts?

I didn't mind him giving his mom the silent treatment. i actually didn't like how june was to him that i mean COMMON the boy is perfect so once he wanted to go have fun with his big brother and eddie...but yea i like both Beavers but he is especially adorable when he was younger...

He was definitely cuter when he was little but I liked him all the way through the series. I personally think the silent treatment episode was funny especially when Beaver and Wally are clearing away the dinner dishes and Beaver says "You can take mothers plate Wally"

I liked the teenager Beaver better than the younger Beaver. This is because as a teenager, Beaver's personality was more well developed and provided greater meaning and insight to his character.

Little Beaver was cute and charming but could make things happen just because he was cute and charming. Much of the early seasons are more Beaver's action and reaction to Wally:

"Hi Wally! I Wanna Be Like You Wally! I Want to do Everything You Do Wally"

I once had a friend that wanted to be with his brother all the time and even isolated himself from regular activities to do things with him. (Even ignoring peers and other social situations with kids his own age.) I always found that a bit strange. (He was in his 20's, his brother was like 8)

From my own experience most siblings are not that close! I mean, it's fine to do things together but not to the point of nausea! LOL! There were times when I think it would have been perfectly natural for Wally to just perfer NOT have Beaver in his life! (I like the episode, "Brotherly Love" with the big fight because it reflects a situation where we see some real conflict between Wally and Beaver. (Rare in the early seasons.)

By the time we get to Season 4-6, Beaver is starting to become more independent and directly involved with friends and peers his own age. Everything wasn't an action or reaction to Wally or "Beaver gets in trouble+Wally helps him out and gets in trouble with him." In the later years, Beaver is reacting to his own problems and situations and Wally has a good independent life with his own friends. Both boys could have a whole story or situation that evolved around them exculusivly. Beaver begins to act and interact like a typical teenager. (Gilbert, Richard, and Whitey are now the advice givers.) Wally had Eddie and Lumpy. As the boys acheived greater independence from each other by interacting with kids their own age, we started to see more realistic and plausable storylines. This is why I like Beaver the teenager better! (Sidenote, I was always a huge Beaver fan, and as a teen, I think it would have been so cool to hang out with him in his later years. (13-15) )

I call older Beaver, "Bobble Head Beaver" because during season 4 and beyond he starts moving his head up and down (and squinting his eyes) when he talks. But I can't rag on him too much, because I like the series all the way through, and Beaver's an awesome kid. The episode where he gives June the silent treatment is actually done well, and as I remember, he kept the Bobbling to a minimum.

 i know what you're talking about.

i liked beaver through all 6 years. when he was younger he looked up to his older brother and always wanted to be around him,but as he got older, he was more independent, and wanted to be with guys his age. and, i thought he was funny in the silent treatment episode beacause at one time, we were all mad at our parents and sometimes we would let them know we are mad at them and it sometimes is silent treatment

I like younger Beaver and older Wally, but I like them both at all of their ages. The scripts were so good, it didn't really matter how old they were.
