I emailed Lifetime the night of the retrospective, to thank them for doing it, plus encourage them to get the complete shows aired, without the editing.

This is the response I got:

Dear Viewer:

Thank you for your email. If you missed Lifetime's special "Golden
Girls" reunion on Monday, June 2, don't dismay. An encore of "The Golden
Girls: Their Greatest Moments" will air on Friday, July 4 from
11PM-12:30 AM ET/PT.

Please note that due to legal restrictions, we cannot sell tapes or
transcripts of "Golden Girls." The majority of the original and acquired
movies, special programs, and acquired television series shown on
Lifetime Television are purchased to air exclusively on our network. We do
not have the authorization to sell or distribute such programming. In
addition, Lifetime has no knowledge of venues selling tapes of "Golden
Girls" for personal acquisition.

We invite you to visit lifetimetv.com and sign up for the "Golden Girl"
newsletter, learn trivia on the girls, play fun "Golden Girl" games,
send a "Golden Girls" postcard to a friend, and even "Ask Sophia" for
motherly advice.

We hope you enjoy "The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Moments," as well
as the dedicated Web site and of course, the "Golden Girls" program!

Thank you for your interest in Lifetime.

Best regards,

Lifetime Television

So, doesn't sound so positive about the DVD release. I think Lifetime has a firm grasp of the show.

Discouraging, but I'm sure they are happy about the success of the program.

Thanks for the scoop!

Since I missed it the first time (I saw some of it, but rain knocked out the satellite for most of the special) I'm definitely taping it this time.

I have listed The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Moments on Lifetime Real Women Network on Sunday, June 8 7:30pm-9pm E/P and on the regular Lifetime TV on Friday, July 4 11p-12:30a, both were last minute re-airings. The ratings probably had a lot to do with it.

I missed most of the bloopers part the first time. I'll definitely be watching it again.
