I like those actors. Why didn't the show just use them as different characters like the rest?

Marie Wallace joined the cast of another soap opera, Another World: Somerset (later shortened to just Somerset after it's first year). I can't blame her - they would often not have her on for a hundred episodes or so before bringing her back as another character. She played India Delaney on Somerset until 1973. Joel Crothers was also on Somerset from 1972-1976.

Don Briscoe had to leave due to health problems. He was very ill at the time and couldn't work. He did smoke pot from what I've read so that could've added to his health problems. From what I read, he gave up acting except for the occasional local stage production due to these health problems.

In PT, I don't know if they ever mention what happened to Chris. His character in PT was replaced with the character of Larry Chase, who was a lawyer on the show. He appeared in four or five episodes.

In real time, they explained Chris had left town with Amy and Sabrina. Don Briscoe, as stated previously, was ill; Denise Nickerson was off filming Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Lisa Richards was written off in the middle of the 1970PT storyline after requesting a pay raise.
