- Lifetime's 'The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Memories' Becomes Highest-Rated Special In Network's 19-Year History
- Scores 3.7HH Rating, Averages 3.2 Million Households
NEW YORK, June 4 -- Lifetime Television's "The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Memories," became the highest-rated special in the network's 19-year history when the 90-minute program posted a 3.7HH rating, averaging 3.2 million households during its premiere on Monday, June 2 from 8-9:30PM (ET/PT).
The entire "Golden Girls" event on Lifetime from 6PM-12 midnight, including the special, the series pilot and the series finale, was seen by nearly 15 million people.
Featuring interviews with Bea Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan, "The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Memories" also:
* Ranked #1 in its time period in households, all key women demographics and all key adult demographics, including the highly-valued P18-34, compared to all basic cable networks Monday evening
* Averaged 4.2 million viewers
* Ranked #1 in its time period among W18-24 with a 1.9 rating
* Scored a 2.0 among W18-34, 2.4 among W18-49 and a 2.7 among W25-54
As well, the series' pilot episode at 9:30PM earned a 3.1HH rating and averaged 3.4 million P2+, while the "Golden Girls" series finale at 10PM scored a 2.8HH rating and 3.1 million P2+.
Previously, the highest-rated Lifetime special had been "Weddings of a Lifetime: Million Dollar Weddings," which posted a 2.3% AA and averaged 1.8 million households when it aired in June 2001.
"The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Memories" featured a "Watch and Win Golden Girls Sweepstakes." For 10 straight days, Lifetime gave away daily a 'Golden Girls Reunion Kit' containing cheesecake (the centerpiece of "The Golden Girls" diet), coffee mugs and floral tablecloth. The Grand Prize-winner will receive a Sony big screen TV and DVD player.
"The Golden Girls: Their Greatest Moments" was produced by Andrew Solt Productions for Lifetime Television. Solt was the executive producer and Greg Vines was the producer.
On Tuesday, July 15 at 8PM (ET/PT), Lifetime will premiere "The Designing Women Reunion," reuniting stars Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Annie Potts, Jean Smart and Mesach Taylor.
