Hi all,
Just trying to figure out which episode a particular dance routine was in. It was a the cute little one with Rob and Laura and some other woman who I don't really remember in Rob and Laura's living room, with all three in suits and top hats. Miss it from my childhood....would like to find a wav file of the song. Sound familiar? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jana

That's one of my favorite DVDS musical performances!
MamaFan is right.
It's from episode #69, "Too Many Stars." The name of the song is "Doop Doo De Oop (A Doodlin' Song)," but you should have no trouble searching it under just "A Doodlin' Song." It was written by Cy Coleman & Carolyn Leigh (Coleman/Leigh), and published by EMI Publishing in 1958 Hope that helps.

Who do you watch in that dance
routine? Of course, you see them
all but who do you really watch?
In all times I've seen that,
I can barely stop watching Mary
(or is it Laura I'm watching)
for any amount of time. And
I'm almost trying to watch the
others at this point. But,
I can't help it...
Thank you for the info, you guys are great. Mary Tyler Moore is just hypnotic, she is the one I would always watch....
Thanks again. :-)
Luv,
Jana

The Rob & Laura dance routine I always watch closely is when they do Carolina in the Morning in the episode "The Sam Pomerantz Scandals" because it's probably the best opportunity to see their styles together.
Both are undeniably accomplished dancers, but in my unstudied estimation, Dick Van Dyke is the more fluid in his movements, while Mary Tyler Moore has the stronger sense of precision in her movements. If you watch her next to Van Dyke, you notice that she is putting her steps and her positions exactly where they are supposed to be. It's only next to Van Dyke's more casual style that it's even evident.
Somehow, together, the two styles work. I guess because each compliments the other.
