These people have a legitimate right to post what they are posting. If you dont like the subject dont' click on the damn thread. It's not that difficult.

you people do relize you can sue someone if they stole your money, if you can prove you sent it. (and you can do that by having a package/letter tracked), then you can sue. Depends on how much it means to you.

I'm already in contact with the US Postal Service over this. I'm out $50, but to me, it's the principle of the thing. Until I receive the tapes or refund, I'm checking other avenues as well because I think it important to get such behavior recorded especially if this is not the first criminal offense.

All you need to do is call the police department in that town and ask to speak with the internet crimes division, if they do not have one then ask for a detective.
They can file a complaint and based on your proof, they can charge the person with various things from internet fraud to federal fraud to larceny.
If this doesn't work contact www.fraud.org and see if they can help.

NOONE should get ripped off just trying to be active in their hobby.

I've only been a member on this site for a short time but I used to trade other types of memorabillia on another site like this one. The difference is they had a "reference board" where you went after completing a trade and posted a positive or negative comment on the other trader. Then you just clicked on the persons screenname and you could see the comments on them.

It's not foolproof but at least you get an idea of what the persons trading background looks like and that's enough to make a concious decision to trade with them or not.

Why isn't something like that here?

When I contacted the Marysville, WA police, I was referred to the Kellogg Cty. Sheriff's Department since Tina lives outside of Marysville. They then told me that mail fraud must be reported in your own town, which I am in the process of doing right now, gathering emails and such.

Thanks for the tip, John, though I hate every minute of dealing with this nonsense. If I was the only one involved, I never would have gone this far, but because at least one other person has been ripped off, it's necessary, as is posting negative feedback on eBay when warranted.

I just got off the phone with our friendly neighborhood police department (yes, in good ol' Devils Lake, North Dakota we actually have friendly police officers :-). Anyway, I was told to contact Internet Fraud Complaint Center (http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp) and fill out a form.

Anyone else having a problem with Tina Ledbetter should really do the same thing so that the FBI will have as much information as possible on her to stop her from ripping others off and at least get some of this on her record.

I know this is a stupid question, but will the fraud company really help you out since it is illegal to buy and sell these shows? I have never had to fill out a complaint about anything, but I was just wondering if they actually ask what you are buying. I just wouldn't want you, the buyer, to get in trouble for turning someone in. Anyway, good luck! :)

Good point, videotrading. :) But someone who already has a criminal record would especially be in trouble with the law in this case.

Before I really got into tape trading I researched this topic using google.com, and from what I understand, it is actually not legal to sell tapes from shows copied off of TV, but it is not illegal either. Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I can gather, there has not been even one case where a defendent has been convicted of selling TV shows taped off of TV. I'm not talking about bootlegging (copying copyrighted videos) but just stuff from off of TV, you know, the stuff we trade here.

I have been worried for several days about your standing behind dave w. and me because of the harrassment you've received as result of it. Teboomer has been at trading for years, so it is not surprising that she has had a couple satisfied customers, not to mention things going on behind the scenes here.
