Crimson and Clover 06-03-2003, 12:27 AM yeah, every once in awhile.
fr00ti 06-03-2003, 12:29 AM Yeah that happened to me today, I almost fell down.
BrandonS 06-03-2003, 12:42 AM It happens to me occasionally at random moments. I asked my doctor once, and he said it's often harmless but occasionally not harmless. Mention it to your doctor.

that made my head hurt.
Ravey 06-03-2003, 02:15 AM I thought I was the only one that that happened to! I told my doctor about it, and he said I might have diabetes and we took the tests, and I didn't. Then he said, it's normal, and alot of people get it, he said it's lightheadedness.
Cashodeen 06-03-2003, 03:36 AM Dizziness, lighheadedness, faintness, vertigo... I'm a queen of them all. Lol. Well, not exactly "The Queen," but I have had dizziness from time to time, and rarely the others. If you feel as if you'll faint, you can do the ol' head between your knees trick.
Ohp, here's what a book I have says: (For general dizziness)--"sit, close your eyes, bow your head, and breathe deeply. " But as far as your question on preventing it, I don't think there is really a way. If you're getting up too quickly, try and rise more slowly. And you can also talk to the doc (which the book also says you can do if you feel it's severe), just like BrandonS said.
(LOL, just in the middle of typing this I got dizzy after I banged up my thumb against a wall grabbing this book. Whenever I get hurt, I get dizzy or lightheaded. I think I've taught myself to do what the book tells, because I instinctively ducked my head and shut my eyes. It went away fast!)
I Dream of Jeannie 06-03-2003, 08:44 AM You could be anemic, I get lightheaded if I don't take my iron, because I'm anemic, maybe you are. Or maybe you don't eat enough, a lot of times, when people don't eat they get lightheaded.
Titania 06-03-2003, 10:15 AM I get dizzy and kind of black out if I stand up quickly because I have really low blood pressure.
I dont know how to prevent it- if Im lying down I'll always sit for a minute before I try to stand. Taking deep breaths and closing your eyes might help too.
~Tropical Punch 19~ 06-03-2003, 12:33 PM I get dizzy when I get up in the moning after sleeping. I tink it is because I have low blood sugar and because of that I don't have enough sugar running through my system to stimulate the energy. Someone told me to eat fruit and that would help. However, I hate most fruits so that really ddin't help me too much.
Tuesday Weld 06-03-2003, 12:40 PM I get dizzy/lightheaded a lot,but that's just one of many symptoms I have.

Unwanted Angel 06-03-2003, 01:06 PM When i don't eat for a long time i get really dizzy or sometimes when i walk i get dizzy and i have to sit down.
Kay Scarpetta 06-03-2003, 03:08 PM Yeah it happens to me... partly because I've been so weak and energy-less lately, because I don't sleep. The other day at school in the confrence room I ran into a wall..

Ah, not eating fruit isn't a big deal. I'm allergic to virtually every fruit out there (except "Controversial fruit" like tomotoes, and cucumbers), so fruit isn't vital to get your blood sugar up. You can gain sugar and boost energy with any food that has sugar or carbohydrates in it. Then some people say once those foods cause a "high," they cause a "low" later on and make people sluggish, so they suggest protien instead. Of course, I do not support Atken's or any other carbohydrate reducing diet, so I basically think eating anything, PERIOD, is good to prevent certain cases of dizziness.
Geez, I can go on and on, can't I? LOL Basically, I'm with you, ~Tropical Punch 19~. Most fruits suck.

 Oh no, lol I am not saying fruit is the "answer to dizziness" it just helps calm it down-or so I've heard.

The same feeling can be accomplished by drinking lots and lots of tequila.
;)

Oh yeah, I know you don't necessarily think that way, because you said in your last post you've heard before. I'm just disagreeing with those people. LOL. And in case you DID believe the fruit thing, I didn't want you to worry because I never eat fruit myself, yet I'm cool.

dawsongirl 06-03-2003, 11:57 PM I get that way sometimes. It's usually a lack of Paxil that makes me that way though. I don't take that stuff one day and I'm so light-headed, I can't keep my head up.
