Matthews Gets Devilish
DMB frontman to release solo LP

Dave Matthews will release Some Devil, his first solo recording, in September. The album will be the second by a Dave Matthews Band member this year; violinist Boyd Tinsley's debut, True Reflections, is due June 17th.
Despite the solo excursions, there don't seem to be any fissures within the DMB. A fifty-four-date U.S. tour is scheduled to launch on the same day as Tinsley's album release in Columbus, Ohio, and will keep the road-ready ensemble traveling into September. "One of the things that brought us together was music," Matthews told Rolling Stone earlier this year, "and only music, not opinions about the whole universe, although we share some and we don't share others. Because we spend so much time together, I can get on people's nerves. That can be said about everybody. But we can still fall back in the music, which is kind of lucky for us. I don't think any of us could imagine this band with anyone else in it. We'd have to change the name. I'm always fired up to go out with the band because it's a ****ing ball. Regardless of whether people like us or not, the **** is ****ing hot when we play."
Matthews might also sneak some of the new songs into his set at Bonnaroo NE (August 8-10 on Long Island, New York), which he'll play with occasional touring partner guitarist Tim Reynolds. "I'm always excited to play with Tim," Matthews said, "if he's willing to spend a few hours or a few weeks dancing around my basic ass. The fun thing about playing with Tim is we sort of slip and fall into things that take on new life. He breathes new life into me, and I hope I at least bring some tiny quality of bearable music into him."
