Okay, from a previous post someone was asking about the young guy who was killed in a Virgina car wreck and has never been identified. He was wearing a Grateful Dead shirt and had a note in his pocket from 2 girls in which it had a telephone number. Why on Earth could the cops not track these girls down to find out who hey was? It was stated that there was no area code but helllloooo? It took me 2 seconds to find out that the prefix was in New York. Both the girls who signed the note were named Caroline and thir last name initials. I dunno, just seems like there is enough info to find out more on this case?????http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/newthread.php?s=&action=newthread&forumid=322 I hope this link comes out.

I honestly thought I had seen every Unsolved Mysteries episode that was ever shown (including all the reruns on Lifetime) but I am drawing a total blank on this case. Do you know what year it originally aired? From the details you gave it is surprising the case was never solved.

It was not even a full segment, it was like maybe a minute - done by Keely Shaye Smith. The first time I saw it on Lifetime was last year during one of their new repackaged episodes.

It originally aired March 7th, 1997.

it was just on the other day...maybe 10 days ago. i've seen it two or three times.

no idea why the police couldn't track the girls but, i am sure they tried.

Makes sense to me as well -- I thought the same thing. Even if the numbers, if they were cell numbers, were not even in existence anymore you would think good police work would lead them to records of who once owned that phone number and where those people lived, could be found, etc.

Then again, there are so many cases out there where police do sloppy ass work.
