View Full Version : QUICK....Get The Sunday Paper, Gang!
pilotguy 06-01-2003, 09:25 AM Today's (Sunday, June 1st) "PARADE" supplement has a nice treat for us....
James Brady's weekly "In Step With..." feature has a great article on Tony Shalhoub!
You can read about his early days as an actor, how he got the part of Antonio on "Wings", his current "Monk" series and other interesting facts.
Check it out over your morning coffee!
Krista2882 06-01-2003, 09:37 AM o yay! I'll have to pick up a paper later!
oh, I forgot to tell you guys this- I forgo that that was Tony Shalhoub on that show "Monk".. because when that show was first starting, I just remember thingking, "oh yeah, that guy used to be on a sitcom a while back.." and then I forgot about it. and then a few nights ago, I came across "Monk" while flipping through channels, and I was like, "woa! It's Tony Shalhoub!" lol. So I watched it for a while... it's soooo weird to hear him talk without an Italian accent. LOL!
wingshock 06-02-2003, 09:00 AM That was great! I can't believe they talked so much about Wings... how he and Tim & Steven are still friends and how his parents were named Joe and Helen & his uncle was Brian.
Love,
Wing<><
losthighway 06-02-2003, 12:45 PM Yeah, I liked how he joked about he and Steven being members of the "electric car" club. It is great the way Tony, Steven and Tim have remained friends, and it shows. For example, a few years ago Tony had a sit-com called, Stark Raving Mad, and Steven Weber made a guest appearance on it. Then, although I didn't see it, I know that Tim Daly made a guest appearance on a Monk episode last season.

It kind of reminds me of the old "Second City TV" gang (Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, John Candy, Martin Short, etc.). Even when the "Second City TV" series ended, they had such great comraderie and were such good friends that they would help out each other and make guest appearances on each others' cable specials.
It's always nice to see the real-life cast friendships continue after the series ends.
AgtSkye 06-02-2003, 02:47 PM I don't watch Monk, but I think Tony Shalhoub is a really good actor. He's been getting good projects since Wings. In fact except for Steven Weber on Broadway it seems like he's been the one to move on and do the best things. I watched 13 Ghosts which he was in...not really my type of movie. I can't take it seriously, and movies like that seem utterly ridiculous and laughable to me...but I will concede that it IS a good movie. I hope we'll see him in something else good soon, but something I actually like. :)

so... is parents' names were really Joe and Helen, and he had an uncle named Brian? That is one of the weirdest coincidences I've ever heard in my life!
