View Full Version : a factual error... am I right?
FOLluveralways! 12-03-2000, 04:12 PM I was watching "The Little Chill" last night and I realized that in one part when every1's all together, Nancy asks Jo where she was that first year and says something like they never met. does anyone remember an episode where nancy, blair and jo were all fighting and nancy and jo were having an argument? could those first year girls have been more than just a year there?

To everyone who wants a don't-kill-Jo reunion, here's a quote from "Another Room"
Natalie: We love ya, Jo. Don't leave.
flower 12-03-2000, 04:35 PM they (Nancy, Sue Ann, and Cindy would make appearances every now and then in seasons two and three, the only one that was there only the 1st season was Molly. what episode is it when nancy pust ice down blairs shirt and walks out as jo is walking in?

ZeldaGilroy 12-03-2000, 05:32 PM I noticed the same error years ago when this show first aired. I know Jo had met Nancy, SueAnn and Cindy before The Little Chill episode. In the episode where Nancy poors ice down Blair's shirt, Blair accuses Jo of telling Nancy that she is going to NewYork with Nancy's boyfriend Roger. Also, in the episode where Natalie gets a bad reputation, SueAnn and Cindy are making fun of Nat and Jo threatens to beat them up if they do not leave her alone.
JoFan 12-03-2000, 05:41 PM Damn! Pretty big error...you'd think the writers would remember stuff like that.
80'snostalgia 12-03-2000, 05:56 PM I hate when the writers talk down to the audience! Anyone who was a die hard FOL fan from the beginning would know that Jo had scenes with nancy, sueann and cindy. They were still at eastland after jo came to the school and remained friends with the other girls. How could the writers pretend like they never met jo before when all the girls stayed in touch apparantly for the reunion. Lisa, mindy and Kim should of complained about the script to change a few lines to make it more believable.
Abbey22 12-03-2000, 07:01 PM Hey Guys,
I have been reading posts here for awhile but this is the first time I ever posted. I wanted to say that actually I thought there was a line at the start of the episode where one of them said something like "Guys, you remember Jo, right?" Then they still reintroduced them to Jo. But you are right with a lot of the other dialouge in the episode it sounded like the first season girls had never met Jo and all of us fans know that they did. i think I am going to have to go back and rewatch that episode now. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
JohnMcMillin 12-03-2000, 07:06 PM actually, Molly was in pt. 2 of "The New Girl" (the 2-part Jo introducer)
Mustang Mimi 04 12-03-2000, 07:07 PM I agree that it definitely did get very very misleading. I haven't seen the fol episodes where the first season girls are still in it. So I naturally assumed that Jo had never seen the girls before. But am I remembering incorrectly (which would not be a big shock) or did Blair say Jo you remember nancy sueann and cindy. Of course why sue ann would have asked jo where she was the first year was stupid cause that question would have been covered in the second season. But another thing- does Jo have a grandfather or not. I mean in the episode with Natalie's grandmother she makes a big deal about how her grandparents died before Jo could get to know them. However when she's supposed to give a graduation speech her grandfather is coming from Poland? What is going on there?
------------------
Tootie: Can we sing?
Jo: Sing?
Tootie: That's what I do when I'm scared what do you do?
Jo: Slap people
Blair: A Warner is like a delicate soufle
Jo: Yeah light and empty
Nat: I'd rather be a happy magic marker than a skinny pencil
JohnMcMillin 12-03-2000, 07:11 PM "Gossip" from 1981 was the episode where Nancy poured ice down Blair's shirt.
It was one of the very few episodes from the second and third seasons to actually give the first-season girls a showcase. The episode focused on Tootie especially (as she was the gossipper), but was one of the very few ones that the other girls were more than just background.
80'snostalgia 12-03-2000, 07:30 PM When jo went out the door last night nancy actually said something like "i heard jo was supposed to be a wild cat" which was stupid since nancy, sueann & cindy had dealings with jo in 1981, when they were brought back occasionally as wallpaper for the remaining girls! I can't believe Lisa Kim and Mindy didn't complain aboout the script and demand a few line changes. Jo would of felt like an outsider but at least they would acknowledge her as a fellow eastland alum.

FOLluveralways! 12-03-2000, 09:17 PM Hey, I just thought of something else. How come then it's like everyone shunned jo out??!? if they mention jo as being the way she was before, why couldnt they have @ least some flashbacks when they were there and knew jo? @ least then they maybe wouldn't have shunned her... she also had to sleep on the couch too because obviously they didn't have her join in.. ugh!
JohnMcMillin 12-03-2000, 09:27 PM the problem IMO is that only the huge FOL fans remember that Nancy, Sue Ann and Cindy were on FOL during the second and third seasons. Legends have always had it that they those 3 were never heard from again after Jo came in.
ToddAO70 12-03-2000, 10:31 PM I have an issue with shows and their continuity (another being Golden Girls, but I digress). Anyway, the writers should be well aware of what's going on so they avoid these inaccuracies. Another issue I have is the Cruising episode with the girls driving around Peekskill. I have lived my entire life in and around this area and have never seen a cornstalk ever! I'm sorry, but that just bugged me. And another problem I have is with the set of the house & shop. By just watching this, The girls apparently live over the front lawn b/c that's how it appear and it also looks like there isn't any room for a kitchen in the back. And why don't we ever see Edna's bedroom? That always bugged me. I wondered what else was down that hallway.

TVaddict 12-04-2000, 01:33 PM If we're going to get into inaccuracies with driving episodes, let's talk about how when Tootie takes her driving test it's amazing how Peekskill, NY looks nothing like southern California http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif At least there are no palm trees in the shot
JamesTR 12-04-2000, 03:39 PM That's pretty crazy, I remember that in Season 2, Sue Ann, Nancy, and Cindy we're all in the episode where Tootie told Natalie that Mrs. G was a drunk, when Mrs. G had got her eyes checked and had gotten eyedrops. And suddenly Jo and Nancy, Sue Ann, Cindy have never met. Writors are stupid. ^_^ (And what's Blair saying, Jo could mop the floor with Sue Ann...)
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 12-04-2000, 07:15 PM well IMO i thought it was a great episode!! i liked having all the girls come back and see the girls again... and yes nancy, cindy, and sue ann did meet jo but that doesnt mean that they knew her well enough to have that many memories, most of the stuff are memories of the first season the only thing that troubled me was they didnt even have the girls come back to see mrs. g for one last time.... (whips a tear) they knew mrs. g just as well as the other girls!! but they were leaving nancy out so that she would feel jelous for the first time... usually she is sooo into things and never feels left out, it was kinda nice to see "JO" in that way.... but i really wish that they wouldl have had a big deal wedding for mrs. g so that the old girls could come back, and mrs. g's kids could be there, and then raymond and dorris coudl have come back maybe with the news of them having a child and mrs. g was sad that she had to leave right when shed have a grandchild and all this other stuff... i had this whole great idea!!!! it was just kinda sad to see them rush the whole thing and all of that.... they should have had a lot more time!! it was a GREAT episode... dont get me wrong!! i just hink they could have made ita lot better than they did!! hehe... maybe i could write a script... i'll think about it... i got like 5 more scritps to write in my boring classes!!! heheh... see ya later!!! bye!!
------------------
jo: mrs. g gone on ahead I KNOW i can fix the problem
MRs. G: jo only twice in my life have i spoke in an arbitrary manner, once when my ex husband morgaged our home to pay the bookee, and now, GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE OR I'LL BEAT YOU WITH MY FRYING PAN!!!
Tootie: (laughing at nat for her hat)waht should i have said?
jo: (gets up and laughs)
blair: nice hat!! (laughs)
Nat: waths wrong with it? (takes it off and looks at it) Oh good good!!! I'm loosing a bolt im working half wattage!!
blair: now jo i know we usually dont agree but that was a scuzy thing for your mother to do!
tootie: wahts so scuzy about it!?!? dont you read the national enquirer, some of the best peopel are Shacking up!!
mrs. g: TOOTIE!!! im surrounded by x-rated kids!!!
nightowl 12-04-2000, 10:22 PM Watching the little chill episode made me wistful of what could of been if nancy, sueann and cindy were put in a few more episodes to balance out the remaining girls. They didn't have to be series regulars anymore but they could of at least been showcased in a recurring fashion like cousin geri, since they were students at eastland anyway. They definitely should of been in the graduation episode for jo and blair. Especially if they could give airtime to a shmuck like ROY.
------------------
ThomasE 12-05-2000, 02:42 AM I have to agree with all of you who say that it is weird that Jo was such a stranger. Those other girls knew Jo well. For those of us whi watched the show are not naive. The Gossip episode. Blaie tells Jo not to tell Nancy about her date with Roger and then Jo sitting with the girls when Mrs. Garrett confronts Tootie about her gossiping. The episode when Sue Ann and Cindy sit with Jo congradulating Jo on her article about Jo's teacher. The episode when Jo tells the trio "Watch your mouth! Natalie's our friend" What were they thinking? That was totally messed up! Of course they knew each other better. They all (except Tootie)went to New York togehter.
The T 12-05-2000, 10:35 AM I noticed that too. Gees you'd at least think the actors would say somethin to the writters at least! STUPID MISTAKE!

See ya~The T

Jo: I don't think I can get this stuff down. I'll get some beer.
Natalie: How will you get beer?
Jo: I'll get some beer.

TVaddict 12-06-2000, 07:07 PM Nope, I was wrong, I looked at the episode again and there were in fact palm trees in the shot. Oh well, I guess Peekskill is just in that tropical section of New York. Either that or Tootie went on an awful long drive for her driver's test.
JoRocks87FOL 12-08-2000, 10:33 PM yeah, i was just looking at some of the guest stars from some episodes on the episode guide, and in episodes like Front page i think it was, nancy is in those and so is jo and i am positive that they all met each other before that episode! i hate it when producers and writers and stuff think that we wont notice, but maybe they never figured that the facts would end up with so many FANATICS like us! (well, some of us!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/tongue.gif) hehe!

JO: Now, Natalie, when you hear these voices, are they friendly?
Natalie1969 03-11-2010, 11:29 AM Jo and the first season girls do have interactions and classes together. Now Jo never lived in the dorm with any of them and doesn't have any first year memories thus shedoesn't know them quite as well but still-they are not total strangers.
Johnny be good! 10-10-2012, 09:26 AM And Jo probably hung out with them more out of obligation then desire.
ThomasE 10-13-2012, 11:28 PM And Jo probably hung out with them more out of obligation then desire.
I think she and Cindy would have gotten along well.
Johnny be good! 10-15-2012, 05:46 AM I think she and Cindy would have gotten along well.
Oh absolutely they would have. I would have cracked up at their insults towards Blair and they would have laughed and high-fived.

They were both Tomboys that stood in judgement of the almighty Blair.

Indeed. Even though Cindy did become quite a gal.
