Happy Birthday Bob! They were great in Sorrrowful Jones too, but even better in the excellent Facts of Life, was able to get a copy recently and had forgotten how great they were in that.

It's not mine, it's from Amazon!

The BBC showed a great little docuentary last night called Bob Hope At 100, presented by Bob Monkhouse, who used to write for him. Lovely clip from somebody's TV show (either Bob's or Lucy's) with the pair of them sparring away. She looked quite old, strangely, though it was in black and white. Sixties maybe? Very funny, anyway. He had his arms around her, and she slapped him in the face! Lots of clips from Fancy Pants as well.

A few months ago I did see Facts of Life. Thought it was a good movie. Told of the problems of adultery without really going into bed hopping. I thought it was good. I had never seen it till a few months ago.

YES MICKEY, THAT WAS A GREAT CLIP FROM A VERY GOOD SPECIAL. i THINK THE SLAP IS FROM SOME OUTTAKES WE SAW RECENTLY HERE ON A SPECIAL, YES IT WAS FROM THE SIXTIES, and when Bob got carried away in his fondling of her she jokingly slapped him. He showed this entire sketch on a tribute special he did to Lucy a few months after she died. She was a District Attorney and he was a mob guy she was investigating! A little later she got on top of him on the couch and obviously threw herself in a hurry as she landed in a touchy place and they both cracked up, which Lucy almost never did!

Didn't need to, did she - she had Desi to do that for her! :)

The clip was shown as part of a sequence of outtakes, but what a shame they didn't show that later one on the couch! Lucy was very good at catching Bob off guard though, presumably because they'd worked together quite often. I love their scenes in Bob's ILL episode.

You could always tell when Lucy worked with someone she really liked, and Bob Hope was certainly at the top of the list! On the couch, she moved and he groaned and that broke her up, then he played with the lines which really cracked her up, on her own shows they were OVERrehearsed, on his, it was the opposite.
