View Full Version : The later seasons...
I was just wondering...who here likes the last seasons just as much, if not more than the earlier ones? Even though the cast looked rather old and tired in the last couple years, there were definitely some great episodes. I would much rather watch one of the last episodes than one the first anyday...what does everyone think?

The first season of the Jeffersons was a classic. It was entertaining and no other season compares to it. I know for a fact the last seasons WON"T be on DVD.

How's that? Do you work for Columbia-TriStar?

I just don't know where to start when it comes to season one. I will always cherish my season one episodes. George was very WILD in season one. George was BORING in the 80's.

I got season one on DVD. I like it a lot, but from what I can remember (I haven't seen them in a while), I liked the 80's episodes, too, not as much, I mean George was rather tame in comparison, but I still found them funny...

You can't compare no season in the 80's to season one. NO COMPARISon. Maybe those later years can be compared to season 3, 4, and 5 but not the first season. George character was a ver different in the 80's compared to 1975
Well, that's a pretty strong opinion. Since Nick @ Nite seemed to only show the 1st few seasons, I soon grew tired of them and found the later 80s shows refreshing when they started showing them on Nick @ Nite. I mean sure the show grew more tame in the later years, but in my opinion it was nice not having scrawny little George running around calling everyone "honky" all the time  ...

George was just funnier when he was Mean
Well that may be true, but in the later years the other actors were given a chance to really show off their talents and not just have the whole show revolve around George. I mean, Isabel Sanford didn't get Emmy nominations all the way to the last year of the show for nothing!

Yeah, the first season was a CLASSIC in YOUR eyes but not in everyone else's though. You don't know for the fact if the later seasons of this wonderful show will be available on DVD or not. You're no future teller.

The last season on DVD will be 3-Possibly. I definitely don't see the seasons from the 80's coming out on DVD.
lil_weezy 07-16-2003, 06:46 PM I loved every season. Each one was funny in it's own way. In the whole series of THE JEFFERSONS, there may have been 2 or 3 episodes that I didn't like other than that, I love the show all the way to the last episode.
Here here!
I totally agree. This show was definitely great from beginning to end. It actually improved with age in my opinion! It wasn't one of those sitcoms that just kept pathetically struggling on and on for seasons trying to stay afloat - no, this show stayed fresh from 1975-1985...period!

THe show improved and George was more mellow?
Well true George may have gotten more mellow, but this wasn't The George Jefferson Show...he was the main character but it didn't revolve around him...no, it was THE Jeffersons, sort of an ensemble comedy...I'm just saying that it wasn't all about George...

George was the glue that held the show together
Ok, I can see that you're willing to argue about this, but I'm not. All I'm going to say is that this was a great show, beginning to end, and I enjoy it immensely. Period!
Now, does anyone have any memories of great eps in the last few seasons? I remember one from the last season where they go to Atlantic City. Weezy walks up to movie stars, not knowing they really are, to find movie stars to meet. It's pretty funny! Even the very last episode sparkled. Now how many shows can you say that about??
