in last nights make your own sunday episode where mrs. garrett teaches the girls about sex there is a part missing from in the class room, see i have my hands on a copy of this episode when it nbc ran reruns of the facts of life on weekends and there is a part missing in the nick at nite version, the script that is missing is as follows... (it is right after natalie goes when do i cave in and then tootie says how about next tuesday and natalie goes TOOTIE!!)
Nancy: I hear it hurts
Mrs. G: (confused and afraid of waht nancy means) what hurts?
Nancy: your first time!
Cindy: why woudl you want to have sex if it is going to hurt!?! (worried and hilarious look)
Mrs. G: you tell me!
Sue Ann: Becuase you want kids????
Blair: (sure of self) becuase you want to have fun!!!

(then onward with the rest of the class room part where mr. bradley enters the room and asks mrs. g if he can sit in on her class)

it is kinda disappointing to see that nick at nite has edited stuff out... liek the oujia board ep where right before they're playing on the oujia board mr. bradley is talking to them cuz it shows it in the credits... but did anybody laugh their head off at last nights ep? I had never seen it and i just recieved the tape of the NBC version of this episode and noticed that that was taken out... but i foudn this to be a rather funny episode!!! hehe!!

i know it is kinda wierd that they edit out some of the funny parts of the episodes, but in a certain perspective, you can see why they did it, i mean we are prbably the majority who watch the show (meaning 13 and older) but then you have to take into consideration that younger siblings ect. maybe watching the show trying to be like their older brother or sister and it really isnt appropriate to be teaching younger kids about sex from a TV point of view, (though i kinda do think it would have been funny to learn about sex from the facts gang) but you know what i mean right?

You see, the network that used to show uncut episodes of all those classic shows is now nothing more than another source of run of the mill syndicated TV shows.

Take I Love Lucy, for example... back in 95, N@N showed the uncut episodes, with very few commercials.

Now, however, Lucy is missing at least 4 minutes of footage from every episode to make way for more commercials.

Same goes for Facts of Life, Three's Company, and probably every other show they air.

Nick at Nite really sucks these days.

oh common, it isnt that bad! sure, the episodes would be TONS better if they didnt edit them as much, but you have to be thankful that they ARE playing these episodes and not playing some other crap that is on the TV. so we gotta be thankful,think of those who dont have the privlege of cable TV! what would we do without the FACTS?

No wonder! That's why during the credits of the 'facts' they show scenes from the ep they just showed and I saw scenes that werent in the episode. I used to think that they were showing cut scenes that NBC took out when they first aired. Knowing the real truth now really sucks. I guess i'm kind of slow.

Yeah, we could do worse. They could be showing My Mother The Car.

But it's just the principal of the thing. Nick at Nite was founded on showing those hard to find classic TV shows uncut and unedited. B&W My Three Sons, B&W Bewitched, B&W I Dream of Jeannie, Unsyndicated Lucy, Dragnet, you name it from 1985 to 1996.

But now, N@N is the same crap you can see at 3 in the morning on a local Fox Affiliate.

Plus, I've never forgiven 'em for taking Kotter off and ending the Monkees Block Party Summer after only 5 weeks for "low ratings".

If FOL had aired on N@N back in the classic days, it would've been unedited. But now that Nick is a soulless, heartless entity, we get chopped Facts.

And, once again, that really sucks.

I was wondering about that b/c in the ep when Jo gets mad and says she is leaving when Blair knocks over her motor, nat and tootie start talking about their friendship, and they show a flashback of when nat breaks tootie's pencil, and they are wearing the same clothes (and hat) as in the ep "Take my finals Please" and they edited that part on N@N. Anyway, does anyone have any original, unedited eps of FOL or threes company for sale, or does anybody know where i can get them?

you know which one i want to see is the one were natilie looses her viginity i really hope n@n shows this one and i hope they dont edit it . but knowing n@n they probably wont even show it. because they skipped the one where natilie got raped to. but this episode

i really wanna see the one where natalie looses her virginity too. i didn't watch the facts when it was on originally b-cuz i was too young, but i like watching it now and i never saw the episode where natalie gets raped or when she looses her virginity. does anyone know why they didn't show the one where she got raped?

I never saw the episode but I think somebody only attempted to rape her. I heard that the guy got frightened away by some other people coming. Also don't lose hope about them ever showing those particular episodes (at least not yet). I read previously on this board that NAN was just not showing them all in order the first time around. Because if they did that, many people who tape them would then have a full collection then. NAN would probably then lose them as viewers for the show.

I think they should do a night of "very special episodes" you know how the emotionally charged ones always get that type of billing. That could be a good night of TV

I KNOW!!! I own "Columia House collector's edition" of shows like all in the family, the original version is 27 minuites, nick@nite cuts it to 21 minuites, so they could squeeze a bunch of commercials!!! Just so they can have 500 commercials before you can enjoy the second half!!! Its bad enough they have to have commercial period, much less than they cut over 6 minuites out of every facts of life and other shows!!!!!!!! I wish nick@nite didn't do that!

When I first used to watch NAN as a kid, there was only one commercial interuption. Now they show them constantly. Do away with them for all I care! The facts of life is cut by NAN. They do take out parts in syndication and add in footage that hasn't been seen since NBC aired it. I have some eps from syndication and NAN. Maybe I can combine them to have the uncut piece. It's a shame I have to go that far to have the entire piece. LOL.

Argh, that's horrible! Six minutes out of an episode?! That's really too far! I remember like 6 years ago when I was 6, NAN claimed that they had the "Uncut and restored" episodes of their shows, and now what? Cut scenes everywhere! For what, commericals?! Gah! Doesn't everybody MUTE during the commericals anyway? I was there was someway we could convince NAN to play the uncut eps. of the shows again...

This thread talks about some of the lines from the Facts of Love episode that were taken out not only in the syndication, but in the DVD episodes as well. Reading some of the lines, I can see why they did cut the lines (if it's true that these lines were in the original airing). Some of them were way over the top for the ages of some of the girls then.

IF those were true lines from the original broadcast episode, that is very, very interesting...and does add so much more to it.
