When my family first got cable when i was 4 years old and it was my favorite channel for years. I Stopped watching Nickelodeon About a year ago because it kinda got stupid. But About A Week Ago i Turned i on and was susprised to find Rocko's Modern Life on as The U-Pick. And was even more surprised when i tried the next day and Pete and Pete was on. Angry Beavers was also played a few days ago.

It seems to me like their kind of going back to their roots for at least a portion of the day, Which is definitely a good thing. Hopefully They Will play Salute Your Shorts on it soon :D

Do you guys think If the People continue to pick these older shows for U Pick they might consider bringing some of the older stuff back fulltime? Or better yet, A Classic Nick Channel. What do you guys think?

A classic Nick channel would be great! I really liked some of their old shows. If they started showing more of those, then maybe I would watch Nick.

I'd die to have a classic Nick station. Their old stuff is the best.

I would love to have a classic Nick station. Only if they did make one it'd probably go on on digital cable and I wouldn't be able to get that channel. Just like with The N/Noggin. Thats why I don't get to watch Alex Mack. :(

I hope you mean Are You Afraid of the Dark as in with the first cast. When the new kids came and made the 'new' midnight society I just lost interest in the show.

I love Salute Your Shorts! Does anyone else know this theme song by heart? lol

I remember watching Ren and Stimpy all the time. I thought they were coming back on some channel..I don't know I forget.

Here's all the shows I love from Nick that I can think of - does not include cartoons. (in no particular order)

The Secret World of Alex Mack
Caitlin's Way
Clarissa Explains It All
Pete & Pete
Hey Dude!
Are You Afraid of the Dark
Salute Your Shorts
Welcome Freshmen
Kenan & Kel
Roundhouse

Classic Nick is way better than the new stuff. I only like Spongebob out of their newer stuff. I love Rocko's Modern Life and The Angry Beavers. I would kinda like to see the old gameshows too, like Legends of the Hidden Temple (wasn't that the name of that show?)

I think it'd be awesome if they made a classic nick channel!!! The other day my sister, cousin and I were just talking about all the old shows we used to watch when we were lil like Are you Afraid of the Dark and Salute Your Shorts...I really miss all of those old shows. When I was about seven I was obsessed with Are you Afraid of the Dark lol.

But yeah, other than Spongebob and a few others, Nick IS getting pretty stupid.

Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts were my favorite Classic Nick shows. I also liked "Welcome Freshmen" and "What Would You Do?". Then in 1996, I watched Space Cases and liked it. I also liked the three early nick toons: Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats. I also remember watching the Nick Soap Opera, "Fifteen." One of the actors in that show went on to be in Two Guys and a Girl. I don't know his name but he was the star of Van Wilder.

I remember Space Cases! Because Catalina was played by Jewel Staite from Flash Forward (Disney). Maybe we should write to Nickelodeon and tell them we want our shows back or leave notes on their message boards or something.

Or maybe we could start one of those Online Petitions. If they cant afford a Classic Nick channel they could at least give it a block on Saturday or something. Like 2 Hours every saturday with assorted Classic Nick shows. Something like that

no it wasnt a game show, I think it was a skit show, only ppl would get slimed if they did something that u couldnt do.....I dont know, it was so long ago, its first show was in 1981 and it HAD to have lasted until mid 90s or else I wouldnt remember it.....oh yeah, I'd also love to watch "Guts" but I can still watch that because I get G.A.S. and they show that all the time

What would you do? They had to perform skits, like stick peices of paper on your head and you had to guess what it was. Then you had to like balance plates on spinning sticks. That started in the 80's (I think) and lasted into the 90's.

I loved What Would You Do, especially the pie pod (I think that's what it was called? that chair that the kids sat in and would get pies thrown at them) and the pie coaster too, that looked like so much fun. I also want to see:

Hey Dude
Salute Your Shorts
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Guts
Double Dare (the one with Marc Summers, that new one...Double Dare 2000, I didn't like it)
Doug
Kenan and Kel
The Secret World of Alex Mack

Anyone remember the last episode of Alex Mack? For some reason it made me so sad, lol. She couldn't have her powers anymore just because that Louis kid saw her using them, and then he was stupid enough to tell the chemical plant people...yeah I think that's how it was. I love classic Nick shows, too bad the kids these days can't see them and all they have is mostly nicktoons.

I remember the last episode of Alex Mack. As I remember it, at the end they left it open with Alex holding the antidote looking out at Paradise Valley. I don't recall them showing her taking the antidote. I believe they left that open for the audience to decide.

They aired the entire show in the year 1996. There were two "seasons" of 13 episodes each. Then they aired reruns Sunday mornings until like 1998. I taped every episode of the show in it's original run. But my tapes have kind of worn out by now. I wish they'd release their shows on DVD.

 YES! I loved him lol. And I also remember that one Nick TV movie about him and his long lost twin brother . And I remember back then, where Stick would be on the wheel thing with all the TV shows on it and then he'd spin and land on one. And I remember the part where kids would send him jokes and riddles and stuff, and he'd have to figure them out, but he never could.

I miss the old shows on Nick, but the shows thety have on now I think are stupid IMO, I remember watching Ren and Stempy, Are You Afraid of the Dark (My all time favorite) Alex Mack, Clarissa Explains it All, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, the old Double Dare, 2 game shows I can't think of at the moment. I would love to see a classic Nick channel. There is something about Nick and N@N that is just not right, although the N@N thing is obvious whats wrong there, please bring these two versions of Nick back to its old self, that would be great.

I love Caitlin's Way, which was a new show. I wish they didn't cancel it though it was so much better than their other 'new' shows. They really should make a classic nick channel that way we can enjoy the older shows.

Here's a basic introduction to the show.

With all of the peer-pressure, schoolwork, hyperactive hormones and scary decisions floating around, growing up can be tough enough! But it's even tougher if you're Caitlin Seeger. Imagine adding a new home, a new family and a new environment to an already-bumpy adolescence. Caitlin's a rebellious orphan from Philly who did just that: She headed west to live with distant cousins in Montana to avoid Juvenile Hall. Thanks to her relatives, the Lowes, their son Griffen, and a little help from a wild horse named Bandit, Caitlin just might make it!

By the way, I got that from LindsayNet (http://lindsaynet.girlskickbutt.com) because I was too tired to type it up myself.

If they ever do mak ea classic Nick channel they need to make a classic Snick, Like Are You Afraid of the Dark (older version of course) and other shows that wer eon at that time or before. They could have a block for that and a block for the old game shows they used to have on there.

Hmm..I'm not sure. I think SNICK is the only title they used for that.

From the Rugrats Timeline (http://www.rugratonline.com/timeline.htm).

August 15 1992: Nick begins its Saturday night block, Snick. Snick programming at the time featured Clarissa, Roundhouse (a sketch program), Ren & Stimpy and Are You Afraid Of The Dark?.

Thanks for posting that, man this is brining back some memories, I remember a little about roundhouse. The new snick and current shows just don't intrest me, maybe its because I like the older stuff better.

Another thing I miss about Nick is they used to have a big New Years Eve special and the last few years I haven't seen it, maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen it. I remember staying most of the night to watch that, that was awesome. I think the only Nick Cartoon I watched was Ren & Stimpy.

I hear that. I'd even settle to see that David the Knome show and I got so sick of that show when I was a kid. I remember watching Nick when I was really little and watching all those corny cartoons like The Noozles, The Little Bits, I can't even remember them all. Then there was The Elephant Show- ya remember the song?
Skinnamarinky dinky, dink, skinnamarinky do...I love you!!!
Gawd, I hated that show when I was little. I was 3 years old and wanting to shoot myself when I heard that song.
I watched Double Dare and Finders Keepers. Finders Keepers was a game show where the contestants trashed a house looking for whatever they were supposed to find or a flag or something. I trashed the bathroom and told mom I was looking for the flag. Mom wasn't too happy about that...Yeah, those were the good ol' days.

I remember the night "All That" premiered in 1995. My brother and I watched it in our parents' room that Saturday night, and we laughed at everything. TLC was the first musical guest.

I feel sorry for the pre-schoolers of today who have to sit through the crap they call Nick Jr nowadays. "Max & Ruby"? A big blue octopus? A little redheaded girl and this big yellow red polka dotted elephant looking thing with horns!? What the hell!? Show the kiddies some "David the Gnome," some "Eureka's Castle," some "Pinwheel," some "Papa Beaver's Storytime." Hell, they could even show some "Allegra's Window." Anyone remember that show that had the family of cats and the son had a pet worm I think his name was Lowly or something like that. And he was friends with a big hippo named Hilda Hippo and they lived in a busy town (as a matter of fact, I think the name of the show was "The Busy World" or something like that). Gawd I forgot the name of that show.....well, when in doubt, refer to IMDb! OK here it is. It was called "The Busy World of Richard Scarry." It premiered in 1993 and was probably cancelled in like 1998. I LOVED that show!!! OMG It's even on VHS and DVD!!! I might be buying some even though I already know those life lessons lol This reminds me of a kinda OT but funny story. I had the Busy World of Richard Scarry book of words (I guess it was called that) and it had the names and definitions of different words and such and it had pwetty pictures and all. On the page for the body parts, it had a big bear (dressed in overalls) and it had arrows pointing to each body part and it had the name of each part. For the butt, it said "Bottom - Try not to get spanken here." LOL Me and my brother thought that was so hilarious! Anyways....they should air reruns of this on Noggin. This kinda reminds me of the old PBS. Remember the "Electric Company" and "321 Contact"!? *rubs back a tear* It's all coming back to me now...

OMG, I remember Richard Scary, lol. Those old toons on Nick were the best. My favorites were always "Allegra's Window', 'Richard Scary', and 'Gulla Gulla Island'. Anyone rememebr that show? With the big, yellow frog and the family that it lived with, lol. I remember when I outgrew that show. I couldn't stand it. But now that I look at it, I really did like it. :p

As for the live-action shows on Nick, my favorites were always 'Are You Afraid of the Dark', 'Clarrisa Explains it All', 'All That', 'What Would You Do?', 'Legends of the Hidden Temple', and 'Salute Your Shorts'. SYS was a cult classic. Anyone remember Zeeke, the plumber? lol And the episode where Mike went home because of a bully, so Pinsky came in. Then when Bud fell in love with Dina. Ick :p But my all time favorite episode was the one where the gang got to go to the beach, but Budnick and Mike fake being sick (Because I don't remember why). The gang got lost on the way, so they had to stop at some ranger station. Back at the camp, Mike and Budnick had to be in the nurses office with that big old freezer of ice cream, except it was locked up in chains. So in the meantime, they tried to put together a puzzle, but Budnick had to do it upsidedown, and he put it all together in like a few minutes. So Mike turned the puzzle back to the right side, and it was a huge collage of ice cream. So Mike went back to the freezer, and Budnick had gotten the key. Then they pigged out on the ice cream. Ahhhhh, I miss this show so much. It would be nice if someone actually knew what I was talking about because I feel kind of stupid, lol. But yea, this show needs to be back on TV.

I absolutely loved just about every nick show. I remember watching SNICK for the first time as well as those game shows such as "Family Double Dare", "Nick GUTS", "Nick Arcade", "The Legends of Hidden Temple", "Wild & Crazy Kids", and "What Would You Do!" Then I remember looking forward to the weekends to see the three original nicktoons: "Dougs", "Rugrats", and "Ren & Stimpy". Then they added "Rocko's Modern Life" which I looked forward to that too. I also remember watching those live-action shows such as "Salute Your Shorts", "Hey Dude", "My Brother and Me", "Clarissa Explains It", "The Secret World of Alex Mack". The early 1990's of Nick were great and probably the best. They had a wide variety of shows to offer. Now all you get is just cartoons all day. It's pathetic!

Definantaly. I also loved the episode where they all snuck out to go to the theaters in town, but Ugh showed up there, so they were hiding all over the lobby and bathrooms to avoid him. He kept coming back to the snak bar for God knows what, lol.

Face it, I loved every episode. it only lasted 26 episodes though. Seems so short compared to when I used to watch it.

My clearest memory of that show is when they were trying to win a radio contest and they had to answer a question about the color of a giraffe's tongue.

I have very vague memories of games that involved a puzzle and a big phone too. Anyone else?

That's probably the only Classic Nick show I really didn't like...lol. Pete and Pete too.

The best ones were Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Clarissa Explains it All, and Kenan and Kel. If they still made new eps of Kenan and Kel, I'd probably still be watching them and taping them probably. That show was funny. I loved it and still do. I saw Salute Your Shorts not too long ago actually..it was on Nick for some reason but I don't know why, same with Clarissa. But I haven't seen Hey Dude in years.

And oh, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Guts were the BEST. lol when I was really little I dreamed about going on those shows when I got older. But now I am older and they're no longer around....I still remember most of the teams on Legends...the blue barracudas, the red jaguars, the green monkeys, the silver snakes, and the purple parrots..ahaha. And did that statue thing scare anyone else? The one on the outside of the temple that talked...that scared me. lol, I mean..I never saw a statue talk before....and I remember when they'd go into the temple and one person would go in and their partner would stay and watch...I don't remember too much about the temple but whenever Olmec (or at least I think that was his name...the talking statue) would explain what they had to do I remember he'd say "the shrine of the silver monkey" really weird and scary...like "the shrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiine of tha seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelver monkey".

I'll stop for now....but I really wish Nick would show its old shows again because if it did I'd definitely be watching them...

I despise Nickelodeon UK- if I could have one channel of the air that would be it. It shows nothing but 'teen' sitcoms- for lack of a better word. It has shown Saved by the Bell too many times, and even manages to show shows like 'Raising Dad'- a show with like 21 episodes, for over a year! I wish they'd get different programming- I'd even like to see the original saved by the bell:junior years (also known as 'Good Morning Miss Bliss'- I've never seen those episodes before).

I do however like 'Clarissa Explains it All'- but it went downhill too.
They don't show many cartoons- and it's only ever The Rugrats/Wild Thornberrys

I'm not sure which i like better, Cartoon Network (bare in mind the UK doesn't have adult swim- but it has Space Ghost- a show I like, and shows some good animated flics)or Nick.

Aaaaah! Teen-coms! One show I like on Trouble (an older teen approach to Nick) is 'My Wife and Kids'- has that show been cancelled in the US? It's ended on a cliffhanger in the UK

I don't really think they are going back to their roots. They seem to show their old shows every once in a while. I remember there was a week where they aired that sitcom "Honey, I'm Home" I think it was a anniversay week. Hopefully they bring them back. I'd love to see "Hey Dude" again.

I don't think Nick is returning to the shows of its golden years. In Nickelodeon Magazine it says Nick is getting Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which is already on at least 3 channels. Also here is a paragraph about Labor Day.

Spend Monday, September 1st taking a stroll down memory lane with Nick's best shows from the summer, including as told by Ginger The Fairly Oddparents and My Life as a Teenage Robot.

Not exactly the stroll we want.
