In the last week there has been some discussion of the TV Land versions as well as local airings and that between the two, you would have a complete episode. I believe that I found an example of where that is not true.

In the episode "A Visit From Lena Horne" the TV Land version that aired tonight and my version from Detroit TV taped in 1997 are missing the following:

1. Very opening showing a large picture of Johnny Carson on a studio door and the tour group filing in.

2. Fred ogling some passerby stagegirls.
(It is after this that the TV Land and my local version picks up, with the tour guide introducing the Tonight Show studio)

3. After Fred's second "Heeeer'es Johnny" he gets into an argument with Lamont.

4. The walkout to the "stars parking lot," accompanied with a "Heeeer'es Dummy."

5. Fred soaking up Flip Wilson's oil with a handkerchief. (After this comes "Heeer'es Johnny's car." This is where the TV Land version and my local version pick up.

6. After the first commerical, Lamont and Fred meet up after the tour and argue about how they separated.

7. The scene where Fred tells Lamont he met Lena Horne. (TV Land and my version picks up with Lamont simply saying "Lena Horne??")

Nothing here really earthshattering or essential to the story, but personally, I haven't seen these since the day they were aired as it has been cut out of every version I have seen since.

I don't have the UPN version of the Lena Horne episode but you can look at another episode and tell me so i can see if i hae the entire episode. I have The UPN version when FRed finds a bum in his yard so let me know about that.

Tonight TV Land aired the episode "A Guest in the Yard" so I compared it with the DVD as well my UPN version from 1997.

I noticed many different edits in this one.

1. My UPN version starts with Fred singing/cooking breakfast, just like the TV Land version.

2. On my UPN version, they did not have Lamont threaten Fred by taking the TV to the pawn shop after Fred cracked the "Nobody and Nobody" joke.

3. On my UPN version, the part where Lamont says "I wonder who he is" and Fred replies "When you do, write me at my sister's place....its goodbye California, hello St. Louis." I don't remember exactly if TVLand cut this part as well.

4. After the bum leaves the house after taking Fred's sweet roll, Fred throws out the peanut butter jar, puts the chair he sat in outside and dusts himself off. This was not on TV Land, but is on my UPN version.

5. When the episode returns from the first commercial, the argument the bum and Fred has is on the TV Land version, but not my UPN version. My UPN version starts with the Fred & Lamont out in the yard talking about Dr. Caldwell.

6. The TV Land version does not have the discussion with Fred and Gus about him committing suicide after the accident, nor does it have the Nixon reference, it morphs into Fred answering the door for Dr. Caldwell. The UPN version has this scene.

These were the ones that I immediately noticed. Nothing majorly significant to the story, but subtle nonetheless.
