One thing that bothered me about the Cosby show is that everything was so peachy all the time especially between Claire & Cliff... they had little minor arguments but I would have liked to see an episode where they had a falling out... probably about different agreements about a child's punishment or whatever..... where Claire tells Cliff he can sit on the couch or something! They were just always so happy & in love! Even the people who are destined to be together always have falling outs!

Watch episode #80 "That's Not What I Said." Here's the synposis of the episode from TVTome: "Cliff has to drive to the police station to pick up Theo, who was riding in a car with a friend who only had a learner's permit. His friend drove too fast, and then became nervous when the cops approached and tried to outrun them. Vanessa and Rudy believe that Theo has been arrested. Clair clears this up, but doesn't tell them what happened. They look through the newspaper the next day, hoping to find a story about Theo. Cliff and Clair learn that Theo, who was grounded, had lied about going to the library so that he could sneak off to Coney Island. His parents send him upstairs while they discuss his punishment. Clair complains that Theo has constantly been testing them, and notes that their daughters have never behaved this way. Cliff shrugs that it is typical behavior for teenage boys. He does not seem to be defending Theo, but Clair accuses him of making excuses for him. They get into an argument and completely forget about Theo. They continue to fight the next day, until Cliff calls Clair at work and plays a favorite song of theirs. Although she is in a meeting, he convinces her to dance in her chair. They make up when she comes home, and decide to let Theo attend a party at his girlfriend's house before grounding him."

That was the only time in the eight years of the show that they argued. Cliff is more of the easygoing parent whereas Clair is more high tempered.
