the ratings in the final NBC season (84-85) weren't THAT bad. They were considerably better than the first and final seasons of Family Ties, or the last 2 seasons of Night Court, or the first season of FOL (and about on the same par as the final season of Facts). But NBC had finally hit a goldmine with Cosby that season and decided DS was old news.

However, the final season on ABC was terrible in the ratings. Came in #75 out of about 85 shows. In today's atmosphere with SIX channels, this would be about the same ranking as a UPN show nobody watches.

God, you can't get much worse then that. I mean the Facts Of Life was like #78 in the ratings [1979-1980].

FOL was 74th out of 74 shows it first year, they couldn't go any lower. That just shows how desperate NBC was for shows back then - today a show rated that lowly would have been cancelled after 4 or fewer episodes. Fortunately, they did not cancel FOL and the rest as they say is history.

See, I can't rememeber watching The Facts of Life durings it's 1979-1988. I can remember watching shows like 227 or The Wonder Years, but I can't rememember watching FOL.

hmm, I didn't mean to start a big controversy over this. LOL. I was just saying that DS's 7th season was considerably higher than those.... remember I did also say that DS' 7th season was comparable to the final season of FOL, whereas it was much higher than the first FOL season, and the first Family Ties, Cheers, etc... seasons.
