I had regular TV until I was 12, and then basic cable from 1989-2000, and then Digital cable from 2000-present.

Regular cable in my room, but I used to have digital cable. I do however get HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and The Movie Channel. Also, we have a satellite dish set up for out in the living room - only it's got problems because half the channels don't show up.

We have basic cable on 4 TVs and digital cable on 1. Digital Cable/Basic Cable in this area is nothing to boast about. It's very lame. At least we get TV Land. I don't know why we have never gotten a satellite. It's lame. We have 5 TVs hooked up. Obviously, we like TV!

I'll be moving in a few months and the area won't have cable available. CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT. We will get a satellite of course, but it will be hella expensive I bet to have satellite use available for 5 TVs! And I've been used to 5 TVs forever. I just couldn't adjust to antennas on some. Pray for me people. LOL, JK.

What type of shows are aired on Goodlife? I hear a LOT about that channel but my cable company doesn't offer it.

There are a lot of Westernish shows that I DONT watch or tape but shows I do tape include Highway To Heaven which I LOVE, Homefront (another one I LOVE and really look forward to watching every week), The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Getting By, The Jimmy Stewart Show, Mayberry R.F.D. , Tony Orlando and Dawn Rainbow Hour, The Jimmy Durante Show - lots of good stuff. I was thrilled to find them airing Highway to Heaven and I've almost recorded the entire series. It's a wonderful show.

Lots of places and suburbs that are too far away from the city limits. Cable won't reach that far, so they're only choices are regular TV or satellite.

Basic cable. I like it. I had Digital Cable before but got rid of it because they kept raising the price plus there was a bunch of stuff on there that I never even watched.

Not far from here. I'll be moving to the city "next door" from here, which is actually larger than this city. The road I'll move to though, doesn't receive cable. It's not even out of the city limits, I don't think. It's pretty close to the actual city, which makes no sense to me why they don't get cable. I'm still angry about it.

Oh yes. We will have a satellite. My parents wouldn't stoop so low. I still live with them so they must accommodate me. LOL. My mother wants to complain to the home owners' association or whoever there is to complain to before we move, and tell them to get some cable up that way. (The roads right by our new one have cable!) I don't know if that'll happen, but I hope my parents will fork over the money for satellite use for at least 4 TVs. I'll settle for 3. Any less than that and I'll go into shock.

It's also cheaper than most regular basic cable in other places, though. Extended cable is about the price that most people pay for basic cable in other places. Basic cable here contains mostly the family cable channels and the six main networks.

Yea, basic cable for us in Chicago had 80 channels. it had every single channel I wanted so there was no need for digital. Actually, we got rid of basic about a year before we moved. When the man came to cut the wire, he was too lazy to go up to the pole, so unly cut it at the house. So my dad tried to connect it a few days later and it worked. it even received HBO and Showtime, something we haven't had before. So we kep it like that and had illegal cable for about a year. :D I went back last December and walked past my house and noticed the cable was in the same exact spot it had been before. The people who bought our house have had illegal cable for almost 3 years now. Lucky for them.

Digital Cable! Over 200 channels including:

14 HBO's

17 Showtimes

6 Movie Channels+FLIX+FOX Movies (free)

I pay about $75/mo+tax

Believe me, that interactive program gude is worth the cost of digital ALONE! The music choice channels are great because you have the option to play them through your stereo (I just use the TV) and the sound is just like a CD!

Best thing is I-Control, which allows you to watch PPV movies, free, I-Control favorites and have VCR-like functionality over what you watch without a VCR! You can stop, pause, rewind, fast-forward and play your programs as often as you like through your universal digital remote! Dish doesn't offer this feature. Plus, for a small monthly fee you can subscribe to Premium Channels on Demand with the same features as I-Control! HBO, Showtime, TMC, and Cinamax have ON-DEMAND Services!

The really big thing is the option Digital Video Recorder, which is an added $10 a month. The DVR works as a combination VCR/Digital terminal except you record and playback your programs without tapes!!! You can pause live TV, rewind, fast-forward, record up to 40-45 hours of shows at once even record an entire season of a show. You can create your own show line up and watch whenever you want. (The DVR is sort of like the TIVO units) You also can record two shows at once and have Picture in a picture on any TV. You must have digital cable to recieve the DVR terminal. If you want to keep a show for a long time, you have the option of storing it in the memory or transfering it to a VCR.

The downsides are:

1. It's a HUGE 17" unit across unit and won't fit in a lot of cabinet configurations.

2. You would still need a VCR or DVD burner if you wanted to preserve something for a long time. (More Space) (Not sure about the DVD burner option...might be out in a future software release for the DVR)

3. It will add $10 a month to your bill

4. If you don't do a lot of taping...you don't need it

But some cable companies have it and for those that do a lot of taping...I think they would find it cool.

I don't like Digital Cable that much because they don't have the NFL package. I pay about $65 a month for Digital Cable. During basketball season, I pay $99 a month which is from November to April.

No satellite has Goodlife. If Direct did, I'd be at my aunt's house more often.

DTV does have Oxygen and I think it has Hallmark (aka- my right arm- lol).

I have Dish Network. I'll NEVER go back to cable in any form.
