They are also allergic to the club and bar scene. What if they are employed, drug free, intelligent, and careerminded, AND dig the club and bar scene? Is that such a bad scene? Oh, I gotta stay on topic (I was going to respond to this anyway). I have always really wanted to go to Philadelphia. It was even a place I really thought would be neat to live in. I have no idea why I had such an interest in a place I'd never visited before. (Maybe it was because I was a Phillies and Sixers fan. LOL, jk.) Who knows? Maybe I'll end up there someday. I'm not sure. I could always apply for school there if I was still interested. Nanny Fine 05-24-2003, 03:19 AM I was in Phoenixville a couple weeks ago and got to shop at the King of Prussia Mall. Brad Russ 05-24-2003, 05:18 AM I would love to visit Philadelphia. If for nothing else, just to run up the steps that Sylvester Stallone ran up in Rocky and to see the Rocky statue. It would also be cool to check out the great art places Iv'e heard so much about. From what Iv'e heard Philadelphia seems like a cool place. I hate the sixers so much. But the city started to become very popular in 1991. Before that, Philly was a quick stop between New york and Washington. I took my daughter into FAO Schwartz, which she loved, and she got to shop in Sanrio Surprise. It was amazing but wow. I haven't watched them in years. Don't even know what's going on with them. I was excited to see them in the play-offs last year, but that didn't last long. And this year I didn't even follow the Sonics, so basketball has been nothing to me. I go over to the Sports Message board and see you and isiahthomas talking a lot of basketball expertise, so you probably have the low down on the Sixers and legitimate hatred for them. I have nothing on the subject. I don't have much to say about the Phillies anymore either. It's national league and my state is american league so I don't hear about them much. It took effort staying a fan in the past, and ever since 93 I was loyal for a while. I don't even know their lineup anymore. Don't care, they're nothing. You never answered my question about the bar/club scene. I'm a Curious Kat. Lol. TVFactFan 05-24-2003, 04:48 PM Originally posted by Cashodeen LOL, we can't be talking about the Sixers now. I guess she's OUT then. Jersey Girl 05-24-2003, 08:53 PM I've been to Philly a bunch of times -- it's not bad. My grandparents live on the Jersey side (near Camden), my dad went to undergrad school at Drexel, and I have a few friends there. The public transport there is pretty good and it's cheap -- I can catch a train from Trenton to central city for about 7 bucks. Philly's a hard city for me to visit, becuase it's close enough that I wouldn't go on vacation to it, but it's also too far to go to and come back from in one day. The radio station I listen to is out of Philly, so I always hear the traffic reports ("Eastbound on the Schuykill" and all those bridges name after people "Walt Whitman" "Ben Franklin" "Betsy Ross") I always do alot of shopping there -- South Street around 4th street.. One of my friends recently moved to Chestnut Hill, and I went to visit her about a month ago. I loved walking through Germantown -- cobbled streets!! I was going to a school in Devon and me and a friend ran away one night....... We walked most of the way to Phili (About 15 miles) we got a cab to a train station...... We didnt have any money so they told us at the hotel to tell the driver when we got there we didnt have any...... He was pi$$ed but let us go......... We hopped a bus in Phili to Baltimore......... We almost were able to hop a bus going to LA but the driver saw us get on and said "Get off this bus before I give you what you need" We wondered around a bit more and ended up at a baltimore police station... The staff at Devereux drove from Devon to Baltimore to get us........ Thankfully after that my mom/dad came and let me come home..... I was such a dork back then! Why was I acting like some Main Line Brat and caping for clubbing before I was even legal? AMackII 08-24-2025, 09:43 PM I like Philly but I never vacationed in Philadelphia throughout my life stevea 08-24-2025, 10:10 PM Been years. My dad's family lived in North Philly, so I was dragged to the dentist in downtown Philly. as a kid; I guess he was their family dentist. Old building on Spruce Street, you had to be buzzed in. No hygienist in those days--the dentist cleaned your teeth and put fluoride on them. I still miss Tastycakes, Philly cheesesteaks, hard rolls, hoagies, and Connie Mack Stadium (long gone). That was a real ball park with real grass. . |
