View Full Version : the Final episode chris jacob 05-21-2003, 03:22 PM hi can anybdoy tell me what Happend in the final episode of Benson Kane 05-31-2003, 10:41 PM I haven't seen the final Benson episode myself (which aired in the spring of 1986), but I've heard about what happens, so here it is: Benson is running for governor against Gatling, which causes a friction between the two. Fortunately, however, they make peace with each other. Four endings were filmed: 1) Benson winning, 2) Gov. Gatling winning, 3) a third candidate winning, and, 4) Benson and Gov. Gatling watching the election returns with no winner announced. The producers chose to air the last one. For this reason, who won the election is anyone's guess. But one thing is for sure: this cliffhanger was the end of the series. WILY93 11-23-2003, 11:23 PM the final show was a disappointment to me.they could have had both men losing going to gene's logging company and become partners. benson and kraus were soulmates, they should've been married Mr. Television 11-24-2003, 01:12 AM They should have chosen one of the other endings. rollout121 06-05-2006, 11:10 PM YEAH, BENSON AND KRAUS MADE AN EXCELLENT PAIR. SOMEHOW, I ALWAYS FEEL LIKE THEY HAD A HIDDEN ATTRACTION FOR EACH OTHER(as characters), AND WOULD OCCASIONALLY PICK UP ON THEIR FLIRTING WITH ONE ANOTHER!... RWCTV 06-07-2006, 06:40 PM The cliffhanger of Benson seems to coincide with tradition in the sense that the final episode of Soap also had a disturbing cliffhanger. Everybody in Soap was on the verge of death, and you never know if they escape or if they die. The show was cancelled and ended with all of the characters stumbling on some life-threatening situation. At least with Benson, you knew that it was the end of an era. Whether Gatling was re-elected or whether Benson was elected, or whether both lose, we saw all of the characters rise up the ladder of success. Anything further would have lost its value. Scoobiedoo30 06-09-2006, 11:20 AM Benson Ran for Governor in The Seies Finale of Benson BensonFan 09-07-2006, 10:51 PM I think they should have picked a real ending rather than take the "safe" way out. I remember watching it with my family and we all had the same reaction: "OH, COME ON!! " :D Scoobiedoo30 09-07-2006, 11:00 PM can someone help was The Final Episode of Benson a Half Hour or was it 1 Hour. Kane 09-08-2006, 09:51 AM can someone help was The Final Episode of Benson a Half Hour or was it 1 Hour. It was actually a two-part episode that aired as two separate half-hour episodes. Parts 1 ("Friends and Enemies") and 2 ("And the Winner is...") originally aired on April 12 and April 19 (1986), respectively. Scoobiedoo30 09-08-2006, 09:59 AM Thanks for letting me know that it was a part episode episode. Scoobiedoo30 09-26-2006, 01:40 AM does anyone know when TV Land will be airing The Final Episode of Benson RWCTV 09-26-2006, 02:54 AM does anyone know when TV Land will be airing The Final Episode of Benson According to TVLAND, the final episode of Benson is supposed to air on the overnight marathon (Saturday Morning October 7th, 2006) at 3:30am Eastern, 2:30am Central. Of course, unfortunately, the first part is not scheduled to air because it is overshadowed by an immediate encore of Fatal Attraction. Friday night/Saturday morning, "And the Winner Is" is the only episode scheduled. No 7 episodes. This is what I found regarding the circumstances behind Benson (https://www.reddit.com/r/sitcoms/comments/1u1a9k6/comment/oqoalb4/)'s cancelation (https://www.reddit.com/r/sitcoms/comments/1u1a9k6/comment/oqofth2/) in 1986: Writer producer Bob Colleary pitched another season to ABC: Benson loses the election, but is appointed as a senator, gets involved in a Washington D.C. murder mystery, and ends up as President. Network execs were interested, until they heard that last part. They turned it down, claiming nobody would believe it. |
