I hate computers. OK, my IE is acting really funny. When I open it, it works fine, but like 5 - 10 minutes into browsing, I get a message (See attachment below) and it closes my IE. So I try and open another window, but I get the message again and it closes. It's driving me nuts. I even tried restarting a few times, yet I still get the same message. Can anyone help me? Justin?

I started to have the same experience tonight whenever I would activate this one desktop shortcut to take me to the "Who's Online" display. I had never gotten that message under that kind of circumstance before. I tried re-booting, re-doing the shortcut, switching from Nestcape to IE, etc. It seems that I now can't go directly to that URL, although any other URL on or off SOL still works fine, as far as I can see.

I tried two different URL's to SO from my favorties, and I got the same message both times. So I went browsing around a favorite sit of mine for like 10 minutes, and nothing happened. I guess it's just the boards. It's so frustrating though.

It's a relief to know that it's probably not on our end.

Oh My God, I had to open IE about 10 times before it let me this far on the boards. Now it warns me after I get here, whether I folow the link in my favorites or type the address in my address bar. At this rate, it'd take me 3 hours to check for a few new posts on the boards. I'll have to either re-install my software or just stop coming here altogether.

One of my friends was having the same problem. Notify TJ of the problem. Maybe he'd know what was wrong. I think my friend just got the errors on SO. Don't think he got them anywhere else.

At first when I read that and the pic hadnt loaded yet, I figured it was spyware related lol :)

Perhaps its one of the banners at the top causing this? hmmm

My computer does "illegal" stuff all the time. However, SO is one of the few sites it recognizes as legal.

Never happened to me regularly before, but if i click a link and press the Scrolly button on my mouse to scroll down before the page can load it does that "Illegal Operation" thing. Strange.

I get that message at least once a day. I figured it was either ME or my laptop. Whatever it is, it pisses me off.

I doubt it is a problem with this site or any banners. Are you running any popup blockers or banner ad blockers?

I would suggest clearing your cache and temporary internet files, you probably are running out of memory.

I don't use any pop up blockers, because I don't get any pop ups here at the boards....ever. The situation seemed to have fixed itself so far because I've been browsing for a while now and no message popped up. I delted my curent IE before going to bed and re-installed it, so maybe that's why. I do get that message once in a great while, it's not like I've never seen it before, so I know it's harmless. But it was just horrible yesterday. I swear I got that at least 50 times within an hour last night.

That exact message used to show up on my old computer quite often. It was a no-name brand (not one of the big sellers). I never did figure out why it happened so much. With my current computer (emachines) it does it very very rarely.

It's got to mean something that OP and I, and probably others began having the problem at the same time. I had never had it before on this site, and I've never had it connected with a particular URL before.
