View Full Version : Bewitched vs Sabrina, The Teenage Witch
sizzlestar 05-20-2003, 09:42 PM Hi, I'm new here.
I was wondering what show do you like better out of Sabrina and BeWitched and why?
I like BeWitched because it's the original show on which Sabrina is so obviously based. It's funnier, had a great cast (although I must admit out of the two Darrin's I liked Dick York much better), decent plots...
Sabrina was good when it started but when it got to about season four it went bad. They got rid of Libby, then Mr Kraft, then Harvey, then even the Aunts in the last series! It was so bad towards the end I couldn't even watch it anymore.
So BeWitched gets my vote. :)
Cashodeen 05-21-2003, 04:19 AM Defnitely Bewitched. CAN'T wait for it to join TV Land next month. I hardly watched Sabrina except every once in a while when it was on ABC. (Coincidently, a commercial is on WB now for it. I'd never watch it on that channel.) There is just no way Sabrina is of the same quality as Bewitched. No one matches Samantha Stephens. NO one. Sorry, Sabrina fans.
And welcome to the boards, sizzlestar!
cheers freak 05-21-2003, 09:20 AM I gatta say that I think both shows are pretty awful. Just my opinion though. Im not trying to put down anyone who likes them.
Christopher 05-21-2003, 09:50 AM Bewitched gets my vote, because it has better acting. jmo
Penny Lane 05-21-2003, 10:02 AM Bewitched. It was an original concept:D
Crimson and Clover 05-21-2003, 03:47 PM Bewitched. sorry to any sabrina fans but i think that show really sucked.
Arfies 05-25-2003, 01:27 AM Bewitched all the way! :woohoo: When I was younger, I liked Sabrina because I didn't even know about Bewitched. And now I do. But I do like the fact that occasionally on Sabrina, you can see a sign reading "Ashmont St."- Ashmont was the company developed by husband/wife team William Asher and Elizabeth Montgomery to produce Bewitched. So at least Sabrina's paying a little homage. :)

Actually, "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" predates "Bewitched" by about two years in the public eye, Sabrina making her first appearance in "Archie's Madhouse" comic book in 1962, and "Bewitched" premiereing on ABC in the fall of 1964. (Although, to be fair, when "Sabrina" was adapted to the "Archie" animated series in 1969, the producers obviously used "Bewitched" as a template for the series, even with some similar characters {Uncle Arthur/Cousin Ambrose; Endora/ Aunt Hilda; Aunt Clara/Aunt Zelda; Darrin/Harvey...you get the idea};)

BUT if I have to choose between those 2 shows then Sabrina.
demand222 02-14-2017, 11:03 AM Sabrina.
I'm not even from America, and I was born late 80s. (but i'm not obsessed with the 90s) But Sabrina came from a comic in October 1962.
lakesgirl 02-14-2017, 01:02 PM Bewitched. Samantha was the best!

Bewitched, by the length of a broomstick!
Sabrina was the only TGIF show that I ever liked (the others made me puke!) because Sabrina herself was beautiful, charming, likable, and funny, and reminded me of the old cartoon which I loved to watch on Saturday mornings.

At times, it tried to be like "Bewitched" (no capital W!), and would sometimes play down the obvious comparisons, but overall, there is no contest. "Bewitched" is one of my favourites and it's a show that's held up very well over the centuries, except for the first 2 seasons, which keep getting shown in colour, when I would rather watch them as they were originally seen, in black and white.
OH Nuts! 10-05-2020, 11:52 AM OMG for me this is a no-brainer: BEWITCHED!!! By 1,000 miles!
Sabrina was a canned resurrection of the witch-like theme. The characters, acting and writing were sooooo tired. In comparison to Bewitched. Sabrina’s watchable to be sure, but let’s put it this way: Bewitched is on my A+ list, Sabrina my C.
