Star Trek was first offered to CBS, but they passed, and went with "Lost in Space" instead.
I think I read or heard somewhere that either "Friends" or "Seinfeld" was first offered to another network.
After ABC cannceled "Taxi" it was first offered to HBO, but then NBC picked it up.

During my high school years, before homeroom I would go straight to the library & read USA Today's Life section. Other information I gathered from various internet sites & E! True Hollywood Story--I've always been fascinated--if not somewhat obsessed w/ the latest, behind the scenes TV news.
Also, After NBC cancelled JAG both ABC & CBS sought the show. Of course CBS outbid ABC.
The TV-movie "Mary & Rhoda" was originally envisioned as a potential spinoff series, but either CBS passed or MTM wanted too much money & ABC picked it up, but by then plans for a series were dropped & it was only a one-shot movie.
