View Full Version : Who's your favorite 7th Friend?

In one episode of "Friends" that aired earlier this season, Phoebe tells Ross about a secret from his past. When Ross asks her how she found out about it, she replies "I have friends outside the 6 of us". That has to be one of the most wildly ironic, and funniest, statements that anyone has ever made on the series and it is the one that I believe best describes the series itself.

It's almost like when the 6 of them are together they appear to be putting up an imaginary wall that insulates them from the outside world. Whenever someone tries to break that wall, they're usually asking for trouble. However, that doesn't stop them from trying. As a result, the show has seen many great characters appear from the outside world. Which one is your favorite and why?

Gunther---Owner of Central Perk coffehouse and Rachel's ex-boss, who still maintains a huge crush on her

Carol---Ross's lesbian ex-wife

Susan---Carol's lesbian lover

Ben---Ross's son

Janice---Chandler's ex-girlfriend and my personal favorite character (" Oh....MY....GOD!!!")

Mr and Mrs Geller---Monica's and Ross's parents

Mrs. Green---Rachel's mother, AKA "That Girl"

Richard---Monica's ex-boyfriend (notice a trend here?) played beautifully by Tom Selleck

Ursula---Phoebe's twin sister, also played by Lisa Kudrow

Mike---Phoebe's on-again, off-again current boyfriend

David---Phoebe's Russian ex-boyfriend

Charlie---Ross's current girlfriend and fellow anthropologist

OTHER---Another character that you liked better than the ones I've already described

I mentioned Janice and Brad Pitts character in a previous thread. BUt I forgot about Gunthar! He's in there too. I think honourable mentions would go to Kathy and Bruce Willis' character. These are IMHO of course.;) :)

Hi, I'm new here on this Friends board. I just started watching it recently. Just wondering, what does IMHO stand for? I like all of the characters so far and I like the show.

Probably would be Gunther. He's been on the show from day one and has interaction with the core group at the coffee house and at parties that have been held at their apartments.
