CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) - While it may not have succeeded on FOX, "Family Guy" is quickly becoming a ratings favorite on cable's Cartoon Network as part of the channel's Adult Swim lineup. The April 30 telecast of the animated comedy was the most-watched program in the history of network in adults 18-34 and men 18-34. It was also among the top 20 programs (16th) of all of ad-supported cable television in adults 18-34 for the week of April 28 - May 4.

Such numbers marked triple digit gains for Cartoon Network in year-to-year comparisions. Its adults 18-34 rating (1.4) and men 18-34 rating (1.9) were up 367% and 533% respectively from the same time period last season. In total, the channel's Adult Swim lineup (Sunday-Thursday, 11 p.m.-2 a.m.) is up 133% in adults 18-34 (0.7 average rating) and 150% in men 18-34 (1.0 average rating).

"Family Guy," which joined Cartoon Network on April 20, airs Sunday-Thursday at 11:30/10:30c.

I wonder if this and the success of the DVD could lead to a revival. The DVD is a top ten best-seller, very good for a show that was dumped after 3 seasons. So FOX needs to put this show back on or sell it to another network. Either way, the company would stand to make big profit from new episodes.
