LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - When "Dawson's Creek" premiered in early 1998, it set ratngs records for the then-fledgling WB, particularly among teen viewers.

Those teenagers are a little older now, but a lot of them tuned in to see the series say goodbye.

The two-hour "Creek" finale on Wednesday (May 14) averaged a 6.6 rating among adults 18-34, one of The WB's target audiences. It's the highest 18-34 rating ever for the 8-year-old network. The episode also scored a 4.2 among adults 18-49, putting The WB in a tie for third (with ABC) for the night, trailing FOX and NBC.

About 7.3 million people watched the finale, set five years in the future. Dawson (James Van Der Beek) is now a successful TV writer who's created a series called "The Creek," based on his teenage years in Capeside. He and his friends return there for the wedding of Dawson's mom, but the celebration turns somber when they find out Jen (Michelle Williams) is dying.

In the end, the show's love triangle is resolved when Joey (Katie Holmes) chooses to be with Pacey (Joshua Jackson) even though she acknowledges Dawson is her soulmate.

That was the BEST ending they could have given the show. Pacey and Joey belong together. I loved it. Jenn dying was extremely sad though. Thumbs up for a great ending to a great series. :)

It was a great ending for a great series. As someone wayyy older than the usual DC viewer, I think more (older) people should have given it a chance and watched it. I'm sure many of them would have liked it. People can see for themselves on TBS, which is currently running two episodes each weekday morning.

My sis started watching it over the summer of TNT or something:crazy: because we didn't have the WB, and she LOVES it, I wish we could have found it earlier!:(

Better end things on a high note than when you are at the bottom!!

That is a very good rating for series finale on The WB. I beleive that was even the highest rating the WB has had for any of there shows. Imagine how big the ratings will be for the series finale of 7th Heaven, The WB's highest rated show.

I was never able to watch the series finale on the WB because I wasn't in town at the time it aired. But I went out and bought the series finale on DVD. It was great with extended and deleted scences. Plus some really wonderful extras.
