My friend and I were discussing sitcoms last night and one came up that we couldn't figure out the title for...

It was an American show that was short-lived, from the early or mid-80's and the premise was this:

Family or cast of characters that live in a hotel or motel setting.
We remembered a scene where the kid snuck out and left behind some pillows dressed in his clothing and he used a basketball for a head with a hat.
Later on in the show, the kid sees that same figure talking to other people at the hotel.

This isn't much to go, I know, but does anyone have an inkling what it could be? Thanks in advance!

Hmm. I don't think so. I'm convinced the show is frome the 80s. I appreciate the answer though!

One show that comes to mind is Amanda's which starred Bea Arthur that was set in a hotel which lasted only a few episodes on ABC in 1983

No Soap, Radio was set in a hotel. It aired on ABC in 1982. It starred Steve Guttenberg, Hillary Bailey, Bill Dana, Fran Ryan, Jerry Marren, Stuart Pankin, Edie McClurg, and Phil Rubinstein.

The setting was the seedy Pelican Hotel in Atlantic City, where you might open the door to your room and find yourself standing in the woods, or pass a glass-enclosed fire station in the corridor and notice a fireman inside.

It was described as the Twilight Zone of situation comedies.
