View Full Version : A Dick Van Dyke Reunion,,,,,,,,,Yey!!!
sodbuster 05-14-2003, 03:08 PM From the "MAIN PAGE",,,,,,,,,,,,,A Dick Van Dyke Reunion Show!!! Best News on there,,,,,,,,,,,,this was the Best TV show ever, of any kind,,,,,,,,,,,certainly my favorite. To me it was the "SUBURBAN",,,,,,,,, Andy Griffith, in the Golden Age of TV,,,,,,,,where not only were we ENTERTAINED,,,,,,,,,,,but also reminded of the "IMPORTANT" things in life! I still get "refreshed" by these shows,,,,,,,,,,,and come away with a lasting GOOD feeling,,,,,,,,as well as a good old-fashioned "belly-laugh"! Yeah,,,,,,,,,,,I guess that i'm old-fashioned, (not prudish),,,,,,,,,,nuthin on TV today can touch the stuff of yesterday,,,,,,,,,,,(THEY DON'T MAKE EM LIKE THAT ANYMORE). Although I gotta say,,,,,,,,BOY MEETS WORLD came pretty close. It was a "pleasant surprise" of a comedy with a "traditional approach",,,,,,,,,,,and a very classy way of handling "sensitive" subjects,,,,,,,,,,,and yet "believable" in today's (NO HOLDS BARRED FOOLISHNESS). Just like "LIFE",,,,,,POPULARITY is NOT necessarily synonymous with "QUALITY"!!
spunkygirl 05-16-2003, 02:16 AM I can't wait for the reunion, I have been wanting a reunion since I first discovered the DVD show. I just wish that Maury Amsterdam could have lived to be part of it :(
I agree with you about Boy Meets World ;)
Tweety 06-22-2003, 10:23 PM This is the first time I've seen this post... has the show aired yet? From the date of these posts, I imagine it might have been part of May sweeps and I missed it... I never knew it was on

Nope, you haven't missed it! :D It's still very much in the "talking" stage. It won't air for some time yet.

Tweety 06-24-2003, 10:50 PM Thanks, Kristen
I'll keep an eye out for the special...and I guess I'll keep an eye on these boards...the best place to hear about this stuff is right here on this site, I think...
Have a great day!
Kristen 07-10-2003, 01:21 AM Sorry to bump this back up again, but I thought you'd wanna know I got my "Walnut Times" newsletter today (http://www.thewalnuttimes.com). It says that, according to Carl, this reunion goes into production at the end of the summer!! :D I can't wait to visit Rob and Laura again!

Tweety 07-10-2003, 01:16 PM oh wow, that's cool....thanks for the update, Kristen...I never heard of the walnuttimes website...now I've got it bookmarked!
Normally, I'm not a huge fan of reunion shows, but I think that this one could be pretty good after all... can't wait to see it

No problem! I know what you mean about the reunion. If it were anybody but Carl Reiner doing this, I'd be concerned too. But I think we can trust him to give us a good show! I can't wait to see it either!
hoosierelvisfan 09-24-2003, 09:42 AM Most of the people from the original series are gone. The only ones left with us are: Rob, Laura, Richie, Carl Reiner . . . Millie????
How about everyone else? Isn't everyone else already deceased?

SawgrassSteve 09-24-2003, 10:08 AM Yes, you're right, HoosierElvisFan,
But that would still be enough for a good reunion episode, if properly written. Those characters who have passed on could be referred to and spoken of fondly, and the others can still be sweet, loveable, and funny.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling too. And don't forget, Rose Marie also said she'd do the reunion. She's still here (albeit, not in the best of health, but she's alive!)

hoosierelvisfan 09-24-2003, 10:50 AM . . . . Sally isn't gone yet!!!! I wasn't really sure, to be quite honest. I thought that she had already passed away for some reason. I certainly agree with the observation that if the show is well written, well produced, well directed, etc., it stands a better chance of being an entertaining show. Most "reunion" shows just don't cut it, IMHO. But on the other hand it does present an opportunity to see old friends, though. That's what I like about dvd sets that are coming out now. You get to see entire seasons of some of your fave shows and see them as they actually were.
I can't wait until Sanford and Son 3rd Season comes out. I was hoping that they were going to release the 2nd season of Mary Tyler Moore show but I just found out today (by reading these Sitcom mb's) that they won't be releasing any more season sets due to poor sales. I bought the season 1 set of the MTM show but I have to admit that even though I enjoyed it, I was really looking forward to the successive seasons being released because I think all the characters really came out even more after the 1st season. There was more focus on all the characters, in other words.

Yea, it is nice to know she's still with us. She's quite old at this point, and it showed on the TVLand Awards show. But at least she's here!
